Interesting Iraq War article from Columbia, SC newspaper..

What is interesting about this article is this paper is in the heart of Bush country - good ole South Carolina.

It has a chilling twinge to it (it's about how insurgents have fought American troops to a stalemate in the Al-Anbar province - I don't point this out with glee or satisfaction, but with anger at Bush and his cronies for ignoring from the start more troops would be needed.)

1. "It's just like in Vietnam"
I wonder if the Marine major who said that will be called on the carpet for his remark. I'd be surprised if he weren't.

I see this article is from Knight-Ridder, which does not surprise me. Their reports on the Iraq War, from there and from Washington have been real food for thought, IMO. KR was one of the first US news organizations to give ink to the Downing Street Minutes. I'll wager this was printed in a fair number of other newspapers, too.

Oh, and hi to a newbie from a fellow newbie, and a fellow resident of South Carolina. If this state were any more RED it would glow in the dark, dontcha think?

2. Sort of surprised....
it was printed in a SC newspaper, especially since Fort Jackson (where I did my basic training) is in SC.
