5. I only found one article in the Monterey County Herald
Former Vice President Al Gore urged Americans on Friday to hold the Bush administration accountable for failing to adequately prepare for and respond to Hurricane Katrina.

"When the corpses of American citizens are floating in toxic flood waters five days after a hurricane struck, it is time not only to respond directly to the victims of the catastrophe, but to hold... the leaders of our nation accountable," Gore told environmentalists at the Sierra Club's national convention.

In his Sierra Club speech, the former Tennessee senator didn't mention that he helped airlift some 270 Katrina evacuees on two private charter planes from New Orleans to Tennessee on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4. He did that at the urging of a doctor who saved the life of his son years earlier. An account of the flights was posted this week on a Democratic Party Web page. It was written by Greg Simon, president of the Washington-based activist group FasterCures.

6. Count me in as one of your legions. I love that man(is that gay?). ; )
I've kept up with him ever since 2000. I've like the transformation. He has really developed the statesman-like quality of truth speaking.

7.  A hell of a speech.
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 08:14 PM by benfranklin1776
It should be forwarded and read widely. I wrote to my local paper requesting publication in its entirety. These are the words of a real President and leader not a flight suit costumed cowboy.

9. Here's the Sierra Club's article on their web site
http://www.sierrasummit2005.org/sierrasummit/coverage/r016.asp

I also sent to my local paper, The Day, this article, the Commondreams commentary on Gore's speech and the Monterery Herald's report on this speech. I asked my local paper to reprint one or more of these articles for the people in my area. We'll see what happens.

10. We're even. I don't listen to a word of MSM, either.
MSM's approval rating seems to be dropping along with Bush's. If they can't deliver audience, then they go out of business. More and more people I know are using other sources.

So ,,!,, them!

11. Another great and true speech
but since he is launching a media competitor against the people who hated and cheated him of his presidency, silence is the only response they can pay him without an abject apology.

The great hole Bush leaves in the eye of the hurricane is very visible which is good. Jes of trouble. Move in for the photo op to soak up as much love as an uncharismatic cad can get. Disappear again and do nothing except feather your own bed like all good RW businessmen do.

Old habits die hard. Their innocent victims die harder and in greater numbers.

14. Ya know, there are a lot of threads like this one

that deserve wide dissemination, but that don't seem to call for a lot of comment. They just sort of stand as self-sufficient in themselves. A lack of commentary doesn't equate to a lack of merit or a lack of interest on the part of readers.

This is all just my taking the long way around to explaining that I'm gonna vote for it.

Or at least I was gonna but it's now more than 24 hours old. Damn.
