Government by Temper Tantrum
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7509.shtml

President George W. Bush’s temper tantrums are on the rise with White House insiders reporting increasing tongue-lashing of staffers, obscenity-filled outbursts and a leader driven to the edge by what he sees as party disloyalty and a country that no longer trusts him.

Conservative backlash over his latest Supreme Court nominee may, in fact, have pushed the President over the edge.

“He’s out of control,” one White House aide says privately. “There’s no other way to put it. His anger spills over in meetings. He berates anyone who brings him bad news but there's not a lot of good news we can bring the President right now. He calls other Republicans 'motherfucking traitors' and it is becoming more and more of a challenge to keep that anger from showing in public.”

A Bush White House that has always prided itself with an ability to shield the President’s weaknesses from the public faces a mounting list of embarrassing public incidents. ... MORE at link...

1. His rudeness to the Pakistani reporter was noticed
U.S. presidents don't act with such arrogance and rudeness. He needs to know he's not ruling just Texas anymore.

2. Is gnashing of his jaw a symptom?
The first time I remember his weird jaw movements was during the debates with Kerry. It seemed like he was pissed that he had to answer to somebody. It seems as if he's been doing it more often lately. Is he loosing it?

3. This is a made-up piece--NOT from a reliable news source.
Whatever fun we might have in reading this, I'm not sure it serves us well to push it to the fore. There are quite enough true things that we could post about on the Bush admin. that would reflect just as badly--and have the credibility of being true.

I don't want to get flamed or banned, but I think we're better than a tactic THEY'D use.

6. I've met Doug Thompson
He used to be a staffer on the Hill during the Ray Gun years. Before that he was a print reporter. He claims that he is a libertarian, but he worked for the GOP. He may be a little dramatic, but he still has a shitload of friends on the Hill, and many of them have in the intervening decades, moved up the food chain and have pretty good jobs in government now at far higher levels than they had back in those Ronald Reagan days.

He has strong opinions, and I certainly do not agree with a lot of them, but a liar he isn't. He is also a loyal friend, and loyal friends talk to each other.

And he has been on the wagon for many, many years now.

8. I have heard this for a while now from a handful of DUers
But I have never seen any evidence that CHB is unreliable.

None of this seems to be outside the realm of reality. Please let me know why you feel that CHB is unreliable.

9. Reliable source or not, pretty much everything this guy has written

on the subject is being vindicated. Many of the anonymous sources cited in the Newsweek piece sound like dead ringers for this guy's sources. As a source of hard-nosed reporting he may be lacking, but as a source of inside dish he seems to be doing pretty darn good.

I say this as someone who has made my fair share of "not a reliable source" posts about Capitol Hill Blue.

10. I dunno
I respect your statement that CHP isn't reliable, but doesn't it seem that these statements are NOT "over the top" in terms of credibility? They seem to bolster what we've seen/read in Newsweek, for example. . . .

11. Many agree that there are significant * mental status problems

judge for yourself, look at * videos for the past year.
He seems to be decompensating in terms of cognitive processes as well as emotionally. He will most likely continue to get worse as the stress mounts, he is faced with some hard realties and his support system resigns or faces legal difficulties. * has very few inner intellectual or psych resources to help him cope with the problems he is facing. He can turn to drugs, alcohol as a way to cope, his usual style. But that will only make matters worse.

His carefully constructed reality is beginning to crack and so may *.
