Don't Use War Dead as a Political Tool--"Only 1,974 Americans have died"
That happens to be the most hypocritical headline I have ever seen...
I am furious.

"last month, the recently formed "Win Without War" coalition launched an advertising campaign that included a two-page spread in this newspaper. The left-hand page carried photos and quotes of George W. Bush and members of his cabinet under the words, "They lied." On the right-hand page, above the words, "They died," appeared the names of th approximately 1,800 American soldiers who'd been killed in Iraq as of Sept. 12."
<snip>

"But the motivation in using fallen soldiers' names at "Win Without War" is explicit: underneath them is a donor form that asks, "Mr. President, how many more?" The leftist coalition--which includes MoveOn, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, National Organization for Women, Pax Christi USA, Sierra Club and National Council of Churches--clearly hopes we'll be so moved by the list's length that we'll join the anti-war cause."
<snip>

"This is a very different war. The numbers are much different too. Since March 2003, ONLY 1,974 AMERICANS HAVE DIED in a war to liberate a country of 26 million people and rearrange the ideological map of the Middle East..."

http://www.pittsburghpostgazette.com/pg/05290/589724.stm

Apparently Ms. Dailey is ignorant to the fact that the media is not allowed to show pictures of the war dead or pictures of their coffins.
Therefore, "Win Without War" must spend money to buy newspaper space to let the public know that we are losing American lives for George Bush's lies.

Please read the whole column. You will see how ignorant of the facts Ms. Dailey truly is.

Every week she writes some article defending the Bush administration's latest follies. She has her head so far up Bush's ass that she just may be the next nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.

1. And they would never, ever lie
about the actual numbers of dead or wounded U.S. troops.

13. That was the word that hit me..."only?!?"
"ONLY?!" That was the best word?! Talk about NOT supporting the troops and their ULTIMATE sacrifice, not to mention how it dismisses the pain of their loved ones. Some of those people that died were ONLY children to now childless couples! One death was TOO MANY! From EITHER side!

You are right, the author of the piece is a soulless imbecile and heartless, to boot!

7. There is a picture of her next to the article.
I would guesstimate she would be around 40. She may have kids of fightin' age, but she's never stated that she has any relatives fighting in Iraq.

Put up or shut up. Exactly!

15. She looks as stupid as she writes.
It's an embarrassment to have her writing in an American paper, even one belonging to Melon Scaife.

Duh

4. "rearrange the ideological map of the Middle East..." ?!?!?
:wtf:

How old is Ms. Dailey BTW? Or, does she have any military aged kids she'd like to sacrifice to her Chimperial hero's noble cause? Yeah...didn't think so.

5. Some asshole said something similar to me this weekend.
His comment was "What's the big deal if 2000 people died?" I told him he was an idiot. His threatened to punch me out so I walked up to him and told him to give his best shot. Like a typical Chickenhawk he backed down.

I'll post more about this incident later when I have more time.

9. You're right. A typical chickenhawk.
Of course idiots like that never mention the over 100,000 Iraqis that have been killed, many of them children.

6. Is this is Scaife rag?
You know, the R Mellon Scaofe who murdered someone in his office building, funded the "Arkansas Project" and trolled trailer parks, netting Paula Jones? Actually turns out it isn't but they must be challening his Pittsburgh Tribune-Review for worst newspaper in Philly.

Info on Scaife, one of the biggest scumbags ever

8. It's not the Scaife paper.
Usually the Pittsburgh Post Gazette is moderate in their views. They really go after Santorum though, which is great.

I called the Editorial Dept. tonight to complain about this column. How could anyone say ONLY 1,974 deaths? It's incomprehensible to me.

And how about the 10's of thousands who have been severly injured? Their lives will never be the same. The types of injuries they are receiving are catastrophic. They psychological trauma is overwhelming for these soldiers.

18. Thanks for the info. Glad they are against Mr. "man-on-dog" Santorum.
That editorial made me look up whether it was the Scaife paper. Sure sounded like something he'd have published.

10. Just ONE death ...
is FAR too many ... in a military occupation of a sovereign nation, based on nothing but lies.

Those people have no respect for life, just numbers! Send not for whom the bell tolls!

16. Figures can distort and cloud the truth
For a moment let us ignore the casualty figures admitted by the coalition and ask if things in Iraq have really improved since the toppling of Saddam Hussein .
As far a I see it Iraq is a much dangerous and unhealthy place since the War .
Iraq has become a hotbed of terrorist networks .
Iraq is on the point of civil war between the 3 main tribes .
Although real power is in the hands of the occupying powers , one tribe has been given acendancy over the other two so nothing has changed here since Saddam Hussein .
Where is all the oil revenue going? Certainly not in rebuilding Iraq.
All we see is a cosmetic attempt to show that things are improving and the Iraqi people are benefiting.
1000`s of Iraqis have died since the War but probably millions have died since 1991 Gulf War by disease and bombing .
We can now come to coalition casualties around 18000 admitted by the coalition but is this figure true ? I doubt it .
In no war has any participant ever admitted the true figure until the end when monuments are errected .
Can we ever say that removing 1 man from power , a THIRD WORLD POWER
was worth it ?
