Judge Roy Moore steps even further off the deep end
Ya gotta love the internet! From; http://www.afa.net/

<(AgapePress) - The man at the center of the battle over the right of government to publicly acknowledge God told those attending a weekend conference in Florida that the nation is on a dangerous and crooked path that must be reversed.

Suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore gave the closing address to nearly a thousand Christian activists at the "Reclaiming America for Christ" conference in Fort Lauderdale. During his hour-long speech, Moore said the recent effort by judges to remove all mention of God from the public square is in direct conflict with the first Congress of the United States.>

It always struck me as rather strange why a supposed omniscient, omnific, omnipresent and omnibenevolent super diety needs the likes of a podunk attorney to make a stink so a government will "Acknowledge" him. And doesnt Roy's Rock" sort of smack of Idol Worship? This wackjob is going to be elected Governor of Alabama. I'll put money on it.

1. Will he primary Bob Riley?
Riley could be damaged goods now in the Republican Party after the tax fiasco.

3. I dont doubt it
Roy Moore is politically savvy, thats for sure. He knows EXACTLY what to say and exactly WHo it appeals to. The forum he was quoted at was promoted by D.James Kennedy, a MEGA fundamentalist from Ft. Lauderdale (website; www.reclaimamerica.org & www.coralridgeministries.org) who is apparently also a Reconstructionist, that is someone who wants to replace our secular government with one that is based on Old Testament law. Isnt that fun? Stone your disobedient children! Enslave citizens of neighboring countries! Kill with gods blessing all who disagree with you!
Moore appeals to a large segment of Alabamians that just love their Jesus and dont want anything to do with anyone that would. Unfortunately, that segment seems to be easily roused from the pulpit and like millions of other sheep in this country, were resposible for the Shrub getting the 49.99999 percent of the popular vote.

5. hey, they're also pissed about the reagan movie, so i ....
they have a 'sample' email on their site that readers are supposed to attach their name to and send it to CBS....
I made a few revisions....like here:
"Mr. Moonves...below is a standard template of a 'protest' letter placed on line by the American Family Association as a protest of your networks' plan to run a movie based on the private life of former President Ronald Reagan.
"While I question the need to delve into Reagan's personal life -- It's not that interesting -- you most certainly have the right to air such a film and the AFA should recognize that and move on to more important matters. If anything, it seems this movie goes too easy on Ronald and Nancy Reagan. I wonder if AFA is simply buying into the Reagan myth or if they've chosen to overlook the Reagans' estrangement from their children, that one of their children is gay, that their daughter wrote an explicitly pornographic novel with lesbian, bondage and group sex scenes in it, or that "Ronnie" himself "had" to get married and was having an affair with his second wife before he dumped the first.
"Come to think of it, Reagan is light years ahead of Clinton in his degree of sleazyness. They better not try to name a school after him in MY neighborhood!

A Patriotic American,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
St. Paul, MN.
Chairman Moonves;

Your upcoming miniseries "The Reagans" is nothing more than an attempt to smear the reputation of a great president. (HE BESMIRCHED IT HIMSELF!)

At best, it is a veiled attempt at revisionist history (REAGAN IS THE REVISIONIST! REMEMBER THE 'It's All Right, Son, we'll ride her down together,' THAT HE TRIED TO PRESENT AS FACT BUT WAS A SCENE FROM ONE OF HIS MOVIES?!?!?!)At worst, it is a pack of lies. (BUT YOU NOTICE WE CAN'T NAME ANY HERE!) Either way, "The Reagans" is the purest example of media bias I've heard about in quite awhile.(COURSE, I COULD FIND A WORSE ONE JUST BY TUNING IN TO FOX NEWS ANY NIGHT OF THE WEEK!)

I WILL! be watching, and urge you to pull the plug on THE AFA. You may not realize it, but the backlash against RIGHT-WING SUCK-UP MEDIA will far outweigh any benefits you feel the network may receive.

I plan to contact my local CBS affiliate and inform them that I WILL be watching this program, AND supporting any local advertisers whose commercials appear during the program.

6. Count on it...
Here in Alabama, it is very clear that Roy is going to challenge Bob Riley. This entire 10 coms stunt was a PR campaign for his election. It is how he was elected to the Supreme Court...he knows what he is doing.

Bob Riley - to his credit - tried to get his constituents to see the need to enact progressive tax reforms. Well, his constituents refused to play ball, and now they see Riley as a turncoat. Mark my words, he will be a one-termer.

Alabama is made up of a great deal of rural-ness surrounding Birmingham, Mobile, and Huntsville. Rural Alabama loves Moore, for the most part. While the majority of the population lives in the urban areas, a large portion of these individuals love Moore as well. Mobile is consistently conservative and outlying areas of Birmingham are as well. Huntsville has a great deal of outsiders that tend to have an equalizing effect on the conservatism, however, it doesn't seem to be enough to swing big elections. In the end, Roy would win a race with 55% of the vote at a minimum.

Unfortunately, I can't go anywhere else if this happens. My wife and I have careers that have been built on contacts in the area, and if we left, we would start from scratch. I'll just have to pray (how ironic) that Roy doesn't run, and that if he does, somehow we can make him lose.

7. Once again, a dem needs to follow through...
"It always struck me as rather strange why a supposed omniscient, omnific, omnipresent and omnibenevolent super diety needs the likes of a podunk attorney to make a stink so a government will "Acknowledge" him."

One of the nine needs to bring this up. ALL of them do. Politely, of course, but it is a legitimate question. America may be widely Christian, but it is not widely extremist, and these are extremist rantings. Call him out on it. Call the right wing extremists out on it. As with abortion, the statistics belie the rallying cry from the extremists, that this is what America really wants. America really wants to be left alone, to practice their religion as they see fit. Or not at all.

It is only the right wing extremists who want to make America a theocracy, and once again we need someone with the balls to stand up the dangerous, devisive hate mongering from these so-called Christians.
