Disney Accuses Democrats of Causing California Fires
The following article is from www.moderateindependent.com :

ABSOLUTELY NO DECENCY OR SENSE OF MORALS

Even As California Burns, Disney-Owned Radio Station KABC 790AM Launches An Attack Of Lies For Political Advantage, Saying “Elected” Democrats Are “Highly Responsible” For The Fires

by Betsy R. Vasquez

OCTOBER 30, 2003 – Yesterday, on KABC 790 AM out in LA – which is owned by Disney, the same company who brought Rush Limbaugh to ESPN - Larry Elder directly blamed Democratic "elected officials" and environmentalists for the arson fires burning in CA.

Even more, the station was holding a pledge drive to help victims of the fire (which are nowhere near under control) and Larry, right in the middle, directly compared the Sierra Club with Enron, suggesting the Sierra Club should "be held accountable" for causing these fires, "just like Enron" was for the blackouts their scandals caused. Then he continued and said directly that elected officials who work with the Sierra club and other environmental groups are "highly responsible" for the fires that are burning.

Remember, Disney owns this station. First, obviously, what Larry said is clearly a provable lie - 3 of the 4 fires are believed to be arson, and DO NOT even involve forests or trees but mainly chaparral (the brush that lines all the hills out in California,) in addition to the fact that a drought, ultra-low humidity, and strong winds were what the arsonists were taking advantage of. The fourth fire was started by an accident during a military training exercise.

Second, on top of lying, using a major crisis as it is still occurring for directly partisan political purposes is as horribly amoral as it gets. Yesterday, the first firefighter died in the blazes and hundreds of more homes were burned, and there was Disney sponsoring Elder to hit the airwaves and spread lies that make it seem the Democrats and anyone who supports environmental protections of forests caused these fires.

Again, the simple facts. 3 of the 4 fires are suspected arson. The fourth was started by a mishap during a military training exercise. The fires are being spread by winds, drought, and low humidity, not by overly thick forests – in fact, it is mainly not even trees involved but dry brush native to the hillsides.

But that doesn’t stop Disney from trying to hang Democrats for this – even if they try and hide behind the voice of hate talk radio host Larry Elder.

If you will recall, it was this same Disney station (and Elder,) among others, who bashed the LA Times as sleazy and unfair for printing simple facts about Schwarzenegger – in fact, the entire press picked up on bashing the LA Times for its story. BUT, where is the criticism of this most heinous, dishonest, purely political attack on the backs of corpses even as the fires still rage? Where?

I’ll tell you where. Nowhere – except in The Moderate Independent. Once again, clear evidence as to why you should help spread the word about M/I. We don’t need to sit and complain that this stuff doesn’t get covered anymore. We just need to get more and more people to see that there is a news source that realizes what it means to report the truth.

How is it that Disney came to embrace such hate and scum, and, most importantly, if the word is spread about what they do with the money you give them when you bring your children to their theme parks or to see their movies, would people not be outraged and demand Disney change?

We don’t know. But, at least, we will get the word out there to begin with. And as history showed us, our stories eventually get picked up by every major news source, as our articles about Schwarzenegger did (did you see David Letterman running the footage we had talked about from Carnival in Rio on his new segment making fun of Arnold?)

So now we turn our sites. Talk radio people, when they come into public view, don’t last long. Savage was terminated from MSNBC after just weeks, Limbaugh from ESPN the same, because out of their talk radio caves people see how disgusting they are and they are not tolerated.

Well, we’re shining the light on what goes on in the AM caveland. And we think the people – once they see the heinous realities like the one above – won’t stand for it.

For now, Disney, be alerted, we are going to share with the world the hate and lies you spread and partisan political agenda you push. Watch out, Mickey, if the history of the stories M/I has fed the world are any indication, this may just turn into a full-fledged rat roast.

1. I saw a Sierra Club spokesperson defend against similar charges
on television recently and he did a good job. The spokesperson made it seem like factually there was no case to be made. Sierra might have some good resource material. I would suggest writing to other news organizations that compte with KABC or may have an axe to grind. Good Luck.

3. KABC 790 is .....V I L E
They are the worst of the worst.. During the campaign run up in 2002, their "hosts" had BILL SIMON as their "co-host" more times than I could count.. That little **** was on the air taking calls from "outraged" freepers callers for HOURS AND HOURS.. And when they did air a democratic political ad, they just made fun of it and critiqued if forever..

This hate radio stuff is horrible.. Al Rantel (another freak/host) is always making fun of Maxine Waters and goes into this parody of her voice...it's no wonder freeps get off on this stuff.. Their bigotry and hate is validated everytime they turn the radio on..

We cannot escape them.. they are on every station all day long.. (except for 90.7 fm)

Until the lefties get out there and protest LOUDLY and OFTEN, they win :(

Look how the freeps got out in force about the Reagan movie, and it looks like they will have their way in the end...

5. it IS the Sierra CLub's fault
Don't you know ? The Sierra Club FORCED developers, against their wills, to build fire-prone homes in the middle of dangerous chapparal. They TERRORIZED city & county government away from instituting proper safety regulations. And then they had the NERVE to FORCE people to cut their own taxes, resulting in reduced emergency services.
