Daniel Schorr NPR Weekend Edition 11/09/2003
Was I the only one fortunate enough to heear Daniel Schorr on NPR's Weekend Edition on Saturday, Nov. 9? It was an excellent editorial concerning the Bush Administration's full speed reversal of the reforms made during the late 60's and the 70s - Campaign Finance, Clean Air Act, Roe v Wade, Independent Prosecutor, etc.
Mr. Schorr states that he felt as though he was present at 'creation' for the birth of these reforms and now he is present at 'cremation' for the death knell for the mentioned reforms.
All in all an excellent editorial opinion.
You can listen at http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=1498641
Please do, this runs enirely counter the weekly news enabling views which are often presented over NPR.
Ah, public radio, yet another sty in the eye of Michael Powell!

2. I don't know about Schorr
He's better than most, I suppose. But that isn't saying much these days. Most of his commentaries are really pretty easy on Bush. He loves to wax on about his own past; he loves to drop names. And he has never gotten over his loathing of Bill Clinton. NPR could do a lot better.

Speaking of NPR, I noticed that J.C Watts, the reliable Oreo cookie who was formerly the only black republican congressman, now has a gig as commentator on, of all things, the Tavis Smiley Show!

4. SALLY please tell me it
ain't so. Tavis and JC Watts. Tavis must not have anything to do with who comes on his show. If Tavis has kissed up to JC then all's gone to hell.

3. I was smiling when I heard it
I often have NPR on while I'm doing other things but I always stop and turn it up when he comes on.
