Soldiers deployed despite drug use

Should we assume they are working on the basis that none of these people could DO enough drugs to be more f@#*ed up than their commander and chief ? :eyes:

DES MOINES (AP) - Twenty-one Iowa National Guard troops who tested positive for drug use on the eve of their deployment were sent overseas anyway, despite the Army's "zero tolerance" policy. And now the Army must decide how to deal with them when they return.

Thirty-seven Iowa troops tested positive for drugs, including two methamphetamine users, two cocaine users and one soldier who tested positive for both meth and amphetamines, according to the Des Moines Register.

Officials at Fort McCoy, Wis., one of the assembly points, said Friday that some of the soldiers used the drugs intending to be caught and sent home.

1. I have to laugh...

I sent my boyfriend, who is currently deployed in Iraq, a care package including some non-drug, tobacco-free smoking herbs from the local herbal healing store. I guess one of his commanding officers was looking over his shoulder when he opened it and there were four plastic baggies filled with herbs. The commanding officer took him asside and said only, just don't use it while you're on duty, okay? My boyfriend just smiled and nodded. They thought it was pot and didn't take it away! How's that for zero tollerance. We still laugh about it.
