Does anyone have a link to this essay? It is in the latest issue. Or do I have to buy it?

I want to hear Dean use this language in his speeches and see ads on TV that have this optimistic goal of America.
Dean must be both angry at Bush and have that old fashioned Democratic optimism, like FDR and JFK.
Dean could be the one who inspires a new generation of youth to dream and work toward the kind of America we could be.
TO HELL WITH BUSH and Co.

6. You have to buy Dec. issue of Vanity Fair |
|
This isn't online, unless someone cuts and pastes it onto their own site. It's called How the Poor Live Now and there was a thread in GD a couple of days ago. Do a search and let us all know.
The Dec. issue also has a great article called Code of Dishonor about the rapes at the US Air Force Academy....and Graydon Carter's excellent editorial on what Bush has accomplished so far. (or deconstructed IMO)

8. A MUST READ! An excellent essay, Dean at his best |
|
I was incredibly impressed that he knew the minutia of education reform and classroom computer access in Mississippi. Dean impresses me consistently.

10. A good read, he'd make a great Surgeon General |
|
I'm also impressed by Dr. Dean's article - he seems to have a well-considered grasp of the issues at hand, and when he's considering policy or writing an article, he comes across well.
It's too bad that he is such a polarizing figure. I supported him orginally as the best Democrat we had to pit against Bush, but his "angry man" style and his lack of composure in the debates have ended up eroding my support.
Dean's campaign is a great catharsis for those of us who are fed up with Bush, and I understand why people back him right now. He's like the guy in that movie "Network" who got everyone to open their windows and yell "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
A protest candidate is not going to win back the White House, however. We need a positive, optimistic leader who can go toe to toe with Bush while giving hope to America. General Wesley Clark is our best hope in 2004.
Let's put the Democrats back in the White House!

11. He's only polarizing to people like you -- |
|
who are going to be polarized against whoever is your candidate's lead opponent, and to people like Gep and Edwards who are going to misuse and mischaracterize Dean, and risk polarizing minorities for their own personal gain -- much as they voted for the war for their own personal gain (political advantage).
