Tommy Guill, the Botetourt County sheriff's deputy who tried to unseat his boss earlier this month, has had his lieutenant's bars stripped and has been reassigned.
Guill, 51, will start working 12-hour rotating night shifts at the jail tonight.
Before challenging Ronnie Sprinkle, 44, who was seeking a second four-year term in the Nov. 4. election, Guill was in charge of transporting inmates to court and other appointments. He had been working four 10-hour day shifts with Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays off.
Story
Guill is a Democrat and Sprinkle is a Republican.
People run against their boss all the time and this is the first time I've heard of someone being demoted because of it. At least around here.
