Personally, I doubt it. I think Bush is just exploiting this latest tragedy in his selfish war against terror.
But the news that Bush announced his support of a Turkish retaliation raises frightening questions. Where will Republicans draw the line at exploiting other nation's tragedies, including those provoked by Republicans? And how can we be sure that these tragedies are not planned by Republicans?
One reason I'm not inclined to link the Turkish bombings with Republicans it that they occurred on the very day Bush was breaking bread with the Royal Family. On the other hand, that's also the very day one would expect Al Qaeda to strike - and no one would suspect the Repugs of launching a terrorist strike that might embarrass Bush and his favorite poodle. But what if the potential rewards from exploiting such a terrorist strike outweighed other concerns?
Again, I doubt that the worst terrorist attacks in Turkish history were carried out by Republican operatives. But they COULD have been, and it's entirely possible that the Repugs will launch terrorist strikes in other nations - perhaps even in the U.S.
I'll bet you a hundred dollars the thought of a Republican operation has at least crossed the minds of Turkish authorities.
