Comprehensive look at impeachment initiatives at this point in time.
The impeachment movement is on fire!snip
Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, introduced H. Res. 635, a resolution creating a committee to investigate the Administration's possible impeachable offenses. Among the 36 co-sponsors are Minnesotans Oberstar, Sabo and McCollum.
ImpeachPac currently lists 28 candidates for federal office who support impeachment or a probe into impeachable offenses. Carl Sheeler, a finance professor, business owner and former Marine, is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Rhode Island. His "Be Patriotic, Impeach Bush" billboard which stood for two months on a busy intersection in Providence, RI's capitol city, generated national awareness for his campaign among peace activists, liberal bloggers, independents and progressive Democrats. Mini versions of Sheeler's in-your-face billboard are on bumper stickers in RI and many other states, including Minnesota.
The Freeway Blogger ran a photo of Sheeler's billboard on his web site but says he prefers the homemade variety of signs for impact, flexibility and cost efficiency.
ImpeachBush.org, the long running campaign with the black and yellow artwork, may have been the first national impeachment group on the scene. Since 2003 the group has amassed about 730,000 signatures for its citizens' referendum to impeach Bush, and placed newspaper ads in the New York Times, USA Today, Boston Globe and the San Francisco Chronicle.
