1. The first thing we do is make sure that Bush and Cheney get voted out
in 2004.

2. That is something one or two of the experts touch on.
In order to improve on things we need the madmen in authority to admit that they have made mistakes. Since Bush & Blair have not the humility nor the honour to do so there is a quite valid argument that successful regime change in Iraq is dependent to a certain degree on regime change over here too. Even for the matter of getting the UN and other international groups involved in this.

Regardless of your views on the Iraq invasion, this set of articles is well worth the effort. Things are going wrong in Iraq and something needs to be done about it.

4. This is a great read...
Common among the opinions is to legitimize this
invasion by letting go, by the US, of contracts, get
UN onboard, get a UN head in to replace Bremer, rehire
some of the Iraqi army to replace troops now policing,
get rid of Chalabi, have Rice and Wolfowitz step out
the picture, get rid of the General Council, write
a Constitution and have an election.

Insure security so NGO's will come into the country,
as well as the UN and Red Cross. Insuring security means
more troops, but the lighter kind and forget the midnight
raids but go door to door like the British have done
in Basra....

follow the Kosovo model for keeping the peace.

can be found in Foreign Affairs in the september/october issue of this year.
