Frist: Iraq is "as bad as it seems."
On the same day that President Bush told a Las Vegas audience that things were “getting better” for the United States in Iraq, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist hedged that bet after a Memphis speech Tuesday night, responding, “No, it’s as bad as it looks,” when asked if there was “light at the end of the tunnel” in Iraq.
If that's a hedge, Betty Bowers is a nun.

3. Depends on who's looking, and whether they're seeing.
Did you catch the most recent confirmation of who is actually running the country?

4. I think if we just let the Shia take over now, instead of
after a civil war following our departure, things might work out okay. Or as okay as they can, anyway. And assuming we get our UN election monitors in place in time to ensure free and fair elections in 2004, we might even get a new government here out of the deal.
