President Bush's "war on terror" evidently includes dressing up Arab men in women's underwear and making them bark like a dog. This is making us safer?

According this Associated Press story on ABC News

Military investigators said in July 2005 they confirmed abusive and degrading treatment of a suspected terrorist at Guantanamo Bay that included forcing him to wear a bra, dance with another man and behave like a dog.

I don't care who these people are, this is just weird. What is with this fascination with homosexualily? I guess proponents of this type of treatment would argument that homosexuality in the Arab world is really loathed and that these homosexual acts are the best way to demean an Arab man.

But why we need to do this?

From my perspective, these acts reveal less about Arab culture and more about the culture of the Bush administration, the military and the United States of America. The fact that this type of sick behavior is disgusting and illegal.

So, now I know why Bush doesn't want those 450 prisoners released, too many laws have been broken. Gotta keep the witnesses locked away.

4. You put your finger right on the truth -

these kind of acts are even more demeaning to the people who give the orders to carry them out.

As the Nazis and those who supported them were demeaned by their atrocities towards the Jews and
other minorities, so will the Bush Administration ultimately be demeaned in the eyes of history
by their treatment of prisoners.

But Bush's particular tragedy is that he has no sense of history at all, and so he is condemned
to repeat it.
