Letters to Editor
Recently there have been a a lot of "letters to the editor" posted in small local newspapers that have been found to been generated by some propaganda machine.

Yesterday, my local paper ran a letter praising Damien* for his visit to Baghdad. The whole letter is vomit inducing but, the most laughable part came when the writer said

....."As Bush indicated to our troops, things are going well at home. After inheriting an abysmal economy from the prior administration, Bosh has brougth about one of the most dramatic turnarounds in 20 tears. ...People are flocking to the stores and finding great bargains....stock market progressing upward in a deliberate manner....as charismatic a leader the nation has had since Eisenhower, etc" You get the gist.

Hopefully, not many people will read this, and those who do will be able to see how outrageous a wanking it is.

1. charismatic?
Chimpy is a lot of things, but charismatic ain't one of 'em. Reagan was charismatic. Clinton was charismatic. Chimpy is not.

at least the writer didn't pretend that things are going well over there, I can see it now: "Our fearless leader, charging into the heart of dangerous Baghdad on the white steed of AF1, told the troops how well things were going in Iraq, and how much the people of Iraq welcomed their presence."

2. well, the rest of the letter is wishful thinking, too

so why not throw in "charismatic?"

These letters always make me laugh. This one is missing the word "bold," though.

3. Letters
No, he didn't throw in bold. He did say "demonstrating incredible courage and self sacrifice"

6. Well, Eisenhower wasn't charismatic either. What a laugh!

Nice, amiable personality (that he showed the public) but not known as charismatic.

JFK now, that was a charismatic president.

And the other lies in the letter? Well, they're just the same old claptrap - but charismatic?

4. Oh, yeah. An abysmal economy is double-speak
for Surpluses, jobs, and growth.

See the definition for "Wonderful, strong leader" - stopping investigations on known terrorists, not even glancing through a two-year study on terrorism, ignoring reports of known terrorists taking flying lessons on 747s, etc.

BTW, does Astroturf have a distinctive odor?

5. Isn't There A Group
That specializes in information and sample letters to the editor for progressively minded people on current issues. If so, can someone please refer?
