Amnesiac Americans (Car Buyers)
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 10:12 PM by Anakin Skywalker
Just a few months ago, it wasn't unusual to read news articles about some poor gas station attendants and owners who were targeted by the gas-rage crowd (whose woes were self-brought mostly). It was anger borne of ignorance and now the ignorance returns in all its unadulterated glory! (UNRESTRAINED) CAPITALISM LIVES!

Bitching will resume next summer, GUARANTEED! (Stress the "guaranteed" in a car salesman's voice)

1. I see new giant pieces of shit all the time
replacing slightly used giant pieces of shit in my corner of Southern California suburbia where probably 80% of the women drive those monstrosities. With the idiots around here it's all part of the herd mentality. Got to have the new Escalade or Yukon parked in front of the McMansion or what will the neighbors think. I shudder every time I approach the parking lot of my daughter's school for fear I'm going to become the victim of someone who has no idea how to park the damn thing. Inevitably they try to squeeze in either in front of or behind me in a space intended for a compact.
These shit-for-brains don't care how much gas costs.

Truly one of the things I hate the most about living around here these days. When I moved into my house 27 years ago this area was considered out in the "boonies" and was quite affordable. Now it's all built up and populated by morons whose goal in life is to accumulate unnecessary crap. :-(

3. SoCal is a disaster waiting to happen
Peak oil is going to hit people there really hard. Frankly, I don't see how some people and businesses are going to survive at $5-$7-$10 per gallon gasoline.
