4 years ago ....think back
First let me say that I have to apologize-I have done next to nothing for the Webb campaign. The baby excuse is lame I feel lame for not having done something.

Okay think back four years ago. The Republicans used the coming war in Iraq as the hammer and they nailed us. Carville ended up with a trashcan on his head on CNN. It was horrible.

Within two years what happened? The most awe inspiring grass roots operation this country has ever seen came up out of nowhere. It wasn't the party it wasn't even a candidate it was you and me and people just like us and a lot of people not like us. It was all kinds and from all over. Having put a lot of time into that campaign I saw it first hand-long time Dems as well as those just worried about their country. The call back operation for volunteers is more than "lacking" so almost all of these people made themselves go to the campaign centers we all had that shared experience of popping our heads into the door the first day or night and saying,"Yeah I uh I would like to help out" and were relieved to be greeted with a "SURE come on in! We have lots you can do" Remember that?

This carried over in Virginia to Gov. Kaine's election and now to the Webb campaign (I am told). People coming out of the woodworks to help out to volunteer to do what they can.

Four years ago the Democratic party was considered next to dead. With no media to speak of, with no way of getting out the message for volunteers, no means to contend by any reasonable estimation look where we are now. If things go tomorrow like all signs indicate that they will and we get at least one chamber on the Hill .... you me and everyone who has worked on any campaign for any candidate or any issue will know that they helped save this country.

Tomorrow night we can all lay our heads down on the pillow and get a good nights sleep.
