Internet Child Porn Ring Has Ties to the First Coast

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A former associate dean at the University of Florida Law School is under investigation for being part of a nationwide child pornography ring.

Authorities have made six arrests in the coast-to-coast probe, and a number of other people are facing the possibility of criminal charges including John Patrick Shannon.

Shannon worked as the Associate Dean of the School of Law at the University of Florida before resigning last August, one day after authorities raided his home.

Shannon's attorney declined to make a statement at a news conference Thursday.

A sworn complaint has been filed against Shannon. The State Attorney's office will determine whether any charges will be filed.

The year-long investigation centers around 49-year-old Gary Norsworthy of Gainesville.
