If Haggard strays, his team will know

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The rehabilitation of the Rev. Ted Haggard will look a lot like parole.

It might not include urine tests or ankle bracelets, but he'll be tracked all the same. He'll have to keep appointments, work on issues and constantly answer to other people.

With one difference.

"He can stop at any time. A guy on parole can't stop," said H.B. London of Focus on the Family, who will step in for his cousin, James Dobson, as a member of Haggard's restoration team.

Although the restoration process varies from church to church, it always starts with a confession, London said. "There's no way to begin the healing process unless they're willing to admit they need to be healed," he said.

A member of New Life's overseer board, the Rev. Larry Stockstill, said Haggard will then undergo a polygraph test to help the team gauge how honest he is being.

Maybe Haggard should considered counseling with trained professionals if he really wants to get 'cured'.

14. The article talks about confession

Haggard never confessed until he got CAUGHT! I get so fucking tired of people who get caught in the act and thenm get martyred for confessing their sins. Would he have confessed if he didn't get caught? No way.

Limpbaugh did the same when he got busted for doing massive amounts of Oxy-Contin. Yeah he admitted on the air to having a problem. Gee isn't he a strong person admitting his wrong-doing...after his former housekeeper told the police about it.

Back to Haggard, I do feel bad for the guy that his entire life has been a big lie and that the rest of his life will be also.

My question is what would GAWD want more...for a person to admit he is gay and live life the best he can or to live the life of a liar on many fronts to cover the fact he is gay?

Never leave the subject alone, wake him up at all hours to confess, use science to break him down ('the polygraph says you're still lying, Ted.'), and, for that extra refinement, tell him God hates him for what he is and there's no help anywhere except by pleasing your torturers. Sounds like the Cultural Revolution to me....

Whatever comes out of this 'restoration' won't be a real personality of any kind. He may fit the desired Christo-hetero mold for a while but I'm betting that he'll suicide or have a permanent breakdown somewhere along the line. You can't 'remake' a 40-something person and expect it to stick. Only he can do that and it isn't through a 'twelve-steps to hell' program like this.
