Crush, Kill, Destroy: Why Bush needs to be impeached
--snip--

Bush needs to be impeached because Bush worshippers just plain deserve it. It was they that were giddy with self-righteous rage, so desperate to take Clinton down that they didn’t care how pathetic their excuse was. They need to be paid back, and to know they asked for it. They need to be demoralized and dismissed before they take the government back and damage it further. They need, after all, to know their reign was a colossal failure, a blight on the record. They need to know that now and forever, George W. Bush will be to presidents what OJ Simpson is to all-star running backs. These people understand things in terms of winning and losing, and they need to know that, in the end, they lost.

Bush needs to be impeached because the only language these people understand is power. Their hearts will not be touched by forgiveness. Any mercy is a sign of weakness to them. If you want to earn a thug’s respect, you’ve got to kick his ass up and down the block. No negotiation. No compromise. Slash and burn. Teach these assholes a lesson. Leave them broken and gasping in a puddle of their own urine. Don’t ever let them forget the humiliation and the shame of it.

But beyond revenge and humiliation—the reasons that Republicans will actually understand—Bush needs to be impeached because he is a criminal of the highest order, and because tolerating criminals at the seat of power is itself a crime against the nation. The core problem in Washington today is not the president’s lack of respect for the law; it’s that congress has done nothing about it. The first step toward restoring a reasonable government is correcting that.

3. Impeach bu$h and his followers will see revenge for Clinton's impeachment.

Leave the idiot in office and put him/them in the spotlight. Make sure each and every bill sent for his signature is a stand alone bill. No pork and no poison. He will bring himself down.

Impeaching the members of this administration will distract this nation from the real work that needs to be done to repair the damage that has done.

4. Impeachment IS "Real Work"
Ford gave Nixon a pass, and we got Iran/Contra Gate.

Clinton gave Bush Sr. and Reagan passes, and we got Dumbya.

NO MORE FREE PASSES FOR CROOKS IN HIGH OFFICE!

I can't bear to go through this shit a fourth time in my life, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to, even once!

6. Bush certainly can be impeached, but he won't be convicted. He'll serve out his term.
Just like Clinton. But unlike Clinton or even the potential impeachment of Nixon, there are no existing ongoing investigations that would give impeachment a boost. In fact it was the Watergate investigation and hearings that caused Nixon to resign because he knew he would not only be impeached, but also convicted. If the Democrats impeach Bush they will do just like the Republicans did to Clinton: impeaching because they can and knowing upfront that Bush will not be convicted. When that happens many Democrats will be celebrating that justice was served while many independent voters will look at impeachment as a political move. Impeachment will become all-consuming and things which helped Democrats to retake Congress will go undone. In November of 2008 a political price will be paid if there is impeachment without conviction. It's ironic that so many are screaming for impeachment because our Democratic candidates were certainly not running on an impeachment platform. Because so many Democratic candidates were so silent about impeachment can it be said there is a clear mandate from the American people for impeachment?

Interesting too, is that any original post calling for impeachment automatically gets at least 1 vote for greatest thread. If there is no impeachment a lot of peoples' heads are going to explode.

7. impeachment will be tough to spin away in the future, and you know GOP will be spinning
desperately to raise Bush's legacy to at least an average president, or more likely, completely forgotten as quickly as possible.

If he is impeached, kid in grade school a hundred years from now might wonder what he did, look it up, and after they read it, they will be less likely to be vulnerable to that kind of manipulation themselves.

Without impeachment, Bush will simply be the next Frankline Pierce or Millard Fillmore, asterisks in textbooks and encyclopedias.
