Australia:Troops being sucked into Iraq civil war: Opposition
The Federal Opposition says overnight violence in Iraq is another sign the country is stuck in a civil war.

(snip)
Prime Minister John Howard says the violence does not change his position on keeping Australian troops deployed in the country.

But the Opposition's defence spokesman Robert McClelland says the troops are being sucked into a civil war.

"The coalition forces are increasingly going to be called upon to assist the Shiite majority put down action by the Sunni minority, and in those circumstances we'll be seen as being participants in that civil war itself," he said.
