The Wellstone 'Accident' - from Liberal Slant
http://www.liberalslant.com/jt123003.htm

Latest government report on Wellstone 'accident' finds its scapegoats, many questions remain

"Shortly before he died in a mysterious airplane crash 11 days prior to the 2002 elections, Minnesota Sen. Paul Wellstone met with Vice President Dick Cheney, probably the Bush administration's most evil public face.

Cheney was rounding up Senate support for the October 2002 vote on giving the administration carte blanche to invade Iraq, with or without blessing from the United Nations. Cheney strong-armed opposing politicians like the most vindictive of mafioso leaders, and opponents usually gave in.

But not Wellstone. Whatever you thought of his progressive brand of politics, he wasn't a wimp. And that's what made him more than dangerous in the eyes of people like Cheney.

At a meeting full of war veterans in Willmar, Minn., days before his death, Wellstone told attendees that Cheney told him, "If you vote against the war in Iraq, the Bush administration will do whatever is necessary to get you. There will be severe ramifications for you and the state of Minnesota."

1. "Whatever is necessary."
Cheney, of course, would never be responsible for an American's death. Or anyone's.

Cheney will kill birds by the hundreds just to see them die but he would never have an American killed for his political expedience. No, of course not.

What would make you think so?

Mr. Cheney is an honorable man. They are all, all honorable men.

4. Woke Up
I woke up that day, heard the news about the plane crash, and the first words out of my mouth, almost reflexively were "They killed him."

Just an instinctive feeling, but I feel it is true. He was a non-compliant true-Democrat. I worry about Dean sometimes, as I think deep-down, the Republicans are really worried that he can incite class-feelings that other Democrats won't bring out.

Republicans work hard at stopping class warfare from the poor, while using it on the same, all of the time.

5. Is there a tape of this meeting?
It seems as if we have a THREAT and then a DEATH.

In murder mystery books, TV shows, and movies - wouldn't that be enough to start an investigation.

And in addition to studying the plane wouldn't Cheney be investigated?

Yeah, I know - we're living in the 'post 12-12 reality.'

7. Where is the proof Wellstone said that?
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 01:54 PM by Eric J in MN
The article doesn't

a) provide the date when Wellstone supposedly said Cheney threatened him.

b) provide the name of one person who heard Wellstone say that.

c) provide one press account from that time of Wellstone saying that

No proof.
