Look at the bottom of the web page that you posted:

Damian Thompson writes for The Daily Telegraph in Britain, where this article first appeared.

The Daily Telegraph is Richard Perle's rag.

The Telegraph is owned by Conrad Black, or so I have been told by a Canadian friend.

Editted: Nevermind. You're talking about the Aussie rag.

4. Read the bottom of the article...
... where is said that the author writes for the Daily Telegraph, which, if I recall, is one of Conrad Black's, umm, newspapers, and has consistently been a supporter of the right wing, in its editorials and in its board of directors.

What Moore does say consistently, in so many words, and to which people respond by buying his books, is that Bush is a dangerous asshole. By November, even the Midwest will be agreeing with that.

16. Scared of Moore
There has been a run on articles knocking Michael Moore here in the UK. The neocon fellow travellers have suddenly woken up to the fact that his books, movies and gigs have been incredibly popular. This is probably because since Tony the Tory and his rightwing band took over the Labour Party, there's been very little in the way of liberal thinking around.
The main claim against Mike seems to be that he's "foreign" and doesn't understand British politics. That's rich when Blair is rebranding himself as an overseas member of the Republican Party.

5. Quote:
Indeed, the more vigorously Moore attacks the President, the better Bush's approval ratings.

So it's Moore who is responsible for spikes in Bush's approval ratings, huh? Wow - this author gives me a little too much credit. Maybe it has something to do with carefully timed captures or heightened "terra" alerts.

23. No, read the last two chapters of "Dude Where's my country."
It is a wake up call for all Americans to stand up against the monied aristocrats who are savaging our country.

Yes he bashes those in the party who are going along so they can line their pockets. That is something we should be doing too.

10. wait..there will be a reply
Martin Thompson is a well known right-wing writer. I'm a regular Age reader and it's a slightly left of centre newspaper and they usually allow another writer to put a response.

Don't be fooled..Michael Moore's books are best sellers in Australia
'Bowling For Columbine' was top box office and he is highly regarded Down Under.

11. Moore blamed republicans for Columbine?
I mean I wouldn't be surprised if the shooters were young republicans, but I thought in Bowling for Columbine Moore didn't blame anybody.

I haven't read one detractor of Moore how didn't use distortions and lies when criticizing Moore of distorting and lying.

13. exactly, Dr. Weird
I suspect these rightwing rags are trying to discredit Michael because of the imminent release of his next documentary which concerns the Bush family's long time sleaze affair with the bin Laden family.

33. i heard that 2
and thought it was bull. They were written by someone who had never seen bowling for columbine. btw, that was a great movie. Because of that movie, I'm getting involved in gun control(I'm joining amnesty international tonight or tomorrow) and it just makes me want to make America a better place.

Because Michael Moore specifically says in the film that guns are not the problem (see Canada segment).

14. this article implies Moore is associated with the dems
he's not, and no dem's rhetoric resembles Moore's in the least.

Kucinich would probably be considered the most likely, but have you ever heard him utter a conspriacy theory about Sept. 11? Has he even ever personally attacked Bush, let alone accuse him of LIHOP?

No, Dennis and the others don't go anywhere near that stuff, despite this writer's implications.

fast and loose with the 'facts' for my liking, and too willing to stage events that never happened to try and make his point.

21. Just read the article
Are the allegations in the article true?

If not, then the author has a lot of explaining to do because it seems to be libel and slander (if that exists in England/Austrailia) against Michael Moore.

If so, then I guess Michael Moore has a lot of explaining to do as well. Lying is not something to be condoned, from either the left, the right, or anywhere in between.

27. Sad but largely true
It makes me sick that Michael Moore, of all people, is lining his pockets because Bush is such an awful president. He is not funny, he sets an intellectually dishonest example for young progressives, and he bears a great weight of responsibility for the 2000 Nader debacle, for which he has never apologized.

34. We wouldn't have to blame Nader
if Bush hadn't cheated in Florida. And remember, Bush* lost the popular vote - despite the division Nader caused. Bush* wasn't elected anyway. He was appointed.

It makes me sick to hear someone blame Nader when (duh!) Nader wasn't the only cause for Bush*'s appointment.

As for Michael Moore lining his pockets... Don't know what to say to that, quite frankly. But I'm not about to villanize someone based on someone else saying I ought to.
