Bush and Rove: Collaborators in the Theater of the Moral Lie
Bush and Rove: Collaborators in the Theater of the Moral Lie
by Andrew Bard Schmookler | Aug 16 2007

For evil to take over America, it would have to do it with a smiling face and postures of righteousness.

Most of the evil rulers in history made no pretense to moral virtue. Maintaining their power through terror, they simply intimidated people into submission.

But in a democracy, evil can rise to power only with the people’s consent—at least in the first stage. And this means that deception replaces brute force as evil’s route to the throne.

Evil has thus ascended to power in America disguised as the good.

This is why the partnership between George W. Bush and Karl Rove has proved so fatefully dangerous for America, for the two men bring profoundly complementary talents to the theater of moral deception.

2. Okay, I take issue with this article...
<snip>

Evil has thus ascended to power in America disguised as the good.

Now, there was no way that I ever thought of either of these two bastards as 'good' in any way, shape, or form. In fact, during the campaign for the 2000 election, if you had any brains and computer skills, and enjoyed the internet, you knew that wasn't true.

And I am not alone in this. Everyone who was here from the beginning wasn't fooled a bit. I wasn't here then, but I came on a couple years later. Anyway, places like this and Daily Kos and there used to be a website called Best of the Web, shitloads of websites were full of people like me and my friends.

I do know people who had to be shown the way, true. But very few. But then again, I don't hang with people who have the tendencies that most republicans have, mean-spirited, selfish, narcisisstic, petty egocentric assholes that they generally are.

And there are those like my crazy Mother, who is very ill, and who I love, but who still supports that pointy-earred simian bastard who's usurped the office of the pResidency. We do not talk politics because I can't control my temper or my mouth.

But back to my original point, I don't think he fooled that many people. Al Gore won the election, he didn't.
