Le Devoir: "Jack Layton or the Renaissance of a Party"
Very laudatory French-language article in today's Le Devoir, praising Layton and hailing the newfound legitimacy of the NDP in Quebec.

Layton's eloquent French and understanding of Quebec is praised, nomination meetings are actually drawing good numbers, support is close to cracking 10% (that might not sound like much, but Quebec's always been a graveyard for the NDP - 10% would be mean a ten-fold increase in Quebec popular vote over last election), winning a few seats is quite possible, and the Bloc Quebecois is starting to feel the heat.

1. Glad that he speaks good French

Ed Broadbent really gave it the good old college try, but when he attempted to speak in French his accent was grating even to my anglophone ears. It must really have sounded like hell to a francophone.
