2. None mentioned his work with Roy Cohn for Joe McCarthy.

I think RFK would have been a good president.

But, there are some aspects to his pedigree that folks just overlook.

I'll note he's not responsible for his father's advocacy of making peace with Hitler.

Let's roll!

3. Yes, RFK's father was an asshole
Yes, there is no doubt that RFK's father was an asshole. But that makes RFK's greatness more substantial - that he overcame his father's abusive behavior.

Also, I don't believe you can blame RFK for not being a perfect progressive early in his life when he was fresh out of law school. RFK greatly evolved - particularly by spending time with the oppressed - the people in the Mississippi Delta, in Bedford Sty and on Indian Reservations.

RFK used to go to all-white suburban audiences and talk to them about the problem of teenage suicide on Indian reservations. By the way, that problem is just as bad as it was when RFK talked about it 40 years ago.

There is a great new book out about RFK's last year, entitled "The Last Campaign." The cheapest price is at www.amazon.com.

5. Yes, I am thinking of reading that. I liked Reeves bio of JFK. That present RFK well.
Folks here just don't understand that a lot of politicos have a learning curve.

6. we all have a learning curve
I am not the person I was ten years ago, twenty years ago, or thirty years ago. I am closer to the person I was forty years ago, when I was young on my own and ready to change the world. Over the years I lost that hope, now I have it back. I began to get it back four years ago when I met Obama, and now I have it back full because the democratic voters have voted to change the way the USA has been for over two hundred years. Forty years ago we were protesting the rule of "rich old white men" and today we are on the verge of changing this long time factor. Hoorah for us.
