Palin/McCain Campaign Dialing Down the Hate? Not So Much!
The Palin/McCain campaign is trying to avoid those personal attacks on Barack Obama, at least they claim to be trying. But McCain himself can’t do all that work, and he can’t control either his supporters, who have become racist and rabid, or Sarah Palin. As Roger Simon notes, the Palin/McCain campaign is in shambles, and that’s a good thing.

1. Is it really true that Palin is not controllable.
I find it hard to believe that the people running the McCain campaign have no power to control her speeches. Someone is writing this stuff for her.

2. Well, I can believe
the incompetence of not being able to control her. I can also believe as you say, that it is all an ugly strategy.

5. Just because you have stopped pouring petrol on the fire
doesn't mean you are putting it out or stopping it from getting bigger.

6. You mean
They've been wasting gas on a fire that won't win them the White House? Didn't they ever hear of conservation?

7. No I mean they have created a racist and bigoted mob that will not be
defused easily. This could also be the reason why they are not using Obama's Rev Wright connections because that would counter everything they have been trying imply about Obama. I.e He is a Muslim terrorist. To bring up Rev Wright would also make evident that Obama is a Christian and has been for well over 20 years. That is something they want to avoid if they are going to scare the right wing ignoramuses.

9. They were only
using her to gin up the fundie vote anyway. Of course they will blame her when their strategies end of failing miserably.

13. Maybe Palin hired her own speechwriter that isn't beholden to McCain.
It would certainly be in line with Ms. "Cheney-in-a-skirt".
