The ultimate irony- "Are you with us or against us?" |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 02:34 PM by underpants
Bush set this out right after 9/11. Bush is America. When you pull the lever for anyone else (Kerry) or anyone he doesn't like you are voting against America
Effective-clearly
Now Obama steps in and basically says "Are you with US or are you against US?"
Well, do you want US (U.S.) to succeed or not?
Brilliant.

3. I think he certainly implied that |

if you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem when he said...
"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics..."
and when he said:
"What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them -- that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply..."
So I think the OP is applauding the subtle way the President turned the us-versus-them argument to one about the country recovering and succeeding instead of the country versus the "terrists." And he didn't even have to say it.

What he said is if you wish to do us harm... That is vastly different than if you're with us or against us.
