Freedom of Conscience Spurned at Liberty U, Whining Ensues by Falwell |
|
Is this the start of a wave of censoring the work of students? Certainly one would expect Liberty University to insist on all its students voting and campaigning for Republicans, but their tax-exempt status might be at risk. Then there’s the case of the sixth grader who wrote a report about Harvey Milk, only to get stifled. http://allspinzone.com/wp/2009/05/26/freedom-of-conscience-spurned-at-liberty-u-whining-ensues-by-falwell/

1. "Freedom" and "Liberty" are bizarre terms here |
|
Of course they run a private Christo-fascist propaganda center (they call it a college) so they can do as they please. But something doesn't have to be illegal for there to be consequences, and as "Liberty" looks more and more like a joke there could easily be fewer opportunities for their graduates. Employers would have to ask themselves if they really want to chance the law suits for harassment from other employees should they hire anyone with a diploma from there. And with Republicans out of office (having left us in a recession) will they all be able to find work in "Christian" organizations where their hate is welcome?
What is interesting is that the right just keeps going farther right, as they have done for some time now. And it appears that the Fawell-style Protestants have also worked hard to align what they claim to be their religious principles with the goals of the Republican Party, and the other way around. I don't see any dividing line between this large group of right-wing Christians and the Republican Party at all. It seems they are as devoted to the memory of Ronald Reagan as much as to Jesus Christ. It is hard to know which "savior" they worship on any given day. They are a parody.

3. Unfortunately, the Republicans |
|
would then make it an issue. O'Reilly would say this is part of the War on Chrsitians, eh?

4. There are no students at Liberty U. Only programmees. |
|
Have you ever seen the show produced by Bob Jones University, a racist and fundamentalist evangelical school? They are clones. They have no souls, only destructive programming. Their eyes on TV are all glassy and unseeing.
Falwell was smart in never showing his students at Liberty University. They're worse. They walk with a zombie gait. In fact, some believe the students are killed upon arrival and a voudon priest raises them from the dead to serve their overlord's will. (Falwell is a walking zombie now as well; they just haven't let him appear in public.)

6. Naah. Stepford products had smart processors. |

I don't know if this guy was a Stepford Preacher from Liberty U., but this is a story I heard this weekend.
A preacher got his congregation to contribute money to send him and his family to Thailand. He was going to preach the Bible and help convert the heathens to the word of Jesus.
He did NOT learn the language. He believed that through the power of Jesus, the ignorant savages would understand what he said and abandon their hellish, false religion.
My friend's father was in the Air Force then, and encountered the guy. He was broke, out of money. The poor people there managed to get him some food every once in a while, because they thought he was mad and they pitied him. Said friend's father gave him some money for food. No knowing if that guy ever got back to the States, or if he even lived.
That's the kind of thinking that right-wing evangelist Stepford-bots have.
