Manufacturing Jobs = National Wealth

A recent look at the headlines proves my point
If as a nation you do not produce something of value that fills the needs of others in this world economy........ you will cease to exist.

As a Nation, we produce little that would employ the millions that are out of work in this country. This will be a jobless recovery.

A new forecast raised fresh doubts yesterday about how strong any economic recovery might be, as the Federal Reserve projected that the unemployment rate may surpass 10 percent by year's end and warned that the economy may not return to full health for at least five years. The projections, by 17 top Fed leaders, suggest that a jobless recovery could be approaching -- one in which the economy begins growing again in the coming months but times remain tough for American workers.

Tadly's diary :: :: We do not need more stimulus, we need to rethink the money that has not trickled out and cut the crap, and put the unemployed back to work.
Stimulus funding still a trickle

In one of the few tangible manifestations in Sonoma County of President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus plan, a crew of seven young people this week began clearing the overgrown creek. It is part of a $1.2 million summer youth ecology program that is employing about 300 people on creeks countywide.
But the massive stimulus program approved in February was touted as much more than a summer-jobs program, and some critics already are calling it a failure.

Yet one fact is clear: very little of the spending juggernaut has yet to hit the streets of America. Federal authorities have allocated barely a quarter of the $787 billion, and only fraction of that — perhaps $100 billion — has reached the spending phase. http://www1.pressdemocrat.com/...

Maybe some of the stimulus money could be used to help these 6.273 Million ex Taxpayers instead of youth ecology programs. I am not against youth or ecology, but right now is not the time.

For that week, 6.273 million people claimed unemployment benefits, a decline of 642,000 from the previous week's revised average of 6.915 million.

Economy in China Regains Robust Pace of Growth

Most analysts are now forecasting strong growth for the second half of this year, at close to 9 percent from a year earlier. But there are risks emerging too.

The government has already warned about wasteful government spending projects, the possibility that overly aggressive lending could lead to a sharp increase in nonperforming loans and the threat of asset bubbles and inflation.

Property prices are skyrocketing again in some parts of the country.
And Shanghai’s stock market is up about 75 percent this year, after a huge drop last year

Even our top money men are invested heavily where manufacturing and jobs are strong.

Buffett-Backed BYD Plans China Listing to Fund Growth

China’s government halved retail sales tax this year to help revive demand for cars and boost economic growth. That helped BYD’s sales to more than double to 176,814 units in the first half from a year earlier, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

So what does this say about your future? Your family? Your Home? Your Country? Your Children?

Let The debate begin

1. Manufacturing creates value.
It takes material, labor and overhead and creates something that is worth more than the cost of the material, labor and overhead.

3. Which goes against everything we've been taught.
Mainly, that the ideal job for a person is NOT to get their hands dirty. That working on an assembly line, doing manual labor, building actual products is inferior work best left to ignorant natives.

No, it's our job to go to college, spend a fortune on education we don't care about and will never need (even if we could understand who the hell Proust is) and go straight into an executive job. How's that working out for everybody?

The business systems, the economic systems, and more than anyone else, the educational/intellectual systems of the United States has betrayed its citizens. We don't need more coats and ties, we need more sweat and strain. We need to honor the labor that the Smartest Guys In The Room have claimed is useless and futile.
