The Tennessee State Employees Association sent a scathing letter to Gov. Phil Bredesen today, castigating the administration for outsourcing state jobs to India. The union is demanding an end to any state contract sending jobs outside Tennessee.
"The Indian workers employed with Tennessee tax dollars are not using their incomes to invest in housing or buy clothing here in Tennessee. Not one penny of their salaries is making its way into Tennessee sales tax coffers. While the Indian economy prospers as a result of our foolish contracting practices, some Tennessee families are wondering where their next meal is coming from.
"The bus is leaving town and our tax dollars, our jobs, our prosperity, is on board. Please Governor Bredesen, put on the brakes. Order your commissioners to immediately stop the harmful practice of sending our jobs out of Tennessee."
