The Great Government Swine Flu Conspiracy |
When the Swine Flu vaccine is ready for distribution this fall, will opponents of this “intrusion” of the federal government into health care refuse to be vaccinated? http://allspinzone.com/wp/2009/08/15/the-great-government-swine-flu-conspiracy/

1. Hope They Got it Right |
I hope they got this "Swine Flu" vaccine right. I very clearly remember back in the late 70s when a vaccine for another "Swine Flu" killed or paralyzed hundreds of people after they rushed that vaccine into production.

at least a little bit. Hope all the right wingers who buy into it hook line and sinker refuse their medicines, though if it is required for kids I'd like to see some enforcement.

3. 25 deaths out of 40 million vaccinated and different strain and different vaccine |
British newspaper, the Daily Mail, hyped the following headline and story over the weekend Swine flu jab link to killer nerve disease: Leaked letter reveals concern of neurologists over 25 deaths in America The headline and the story that follows is full of confusing and highly misleading information about the vaccine being created for the current pandemic Swine Flu. A number of reputable news organizations chose to also print the story, despite its glaring weaknesses. In 1976 a number of cases of a swine flu were discovered in humans at Fort Dix, New Jersey. That particular variant was named A/New Jersey/76 (Hsw1N1). A vaccine was rushed into production and distributed, despite the small number of actual cases and the sole death related to the illness. Public health officials at the time felt that this illness could become the next influenza pandemic. The vaccine caused immune reactions in a small number of those vaccinated, resulting in about 500 cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and 25 deaths due to respiratory complications. 40 million Americans were vaccinated. The current pandemic Swine Flu virus is not the same virus as that in 1976. Vaccines are being developed using current technology and, in some cases, are in clinical trials at this time. There have been no reports of deaths or of GBS related to the current vaccine trials.

4. I don't plan to get one; I never get flu shots anyway |
But I would be torn about what to do if I had young children. Probably I would wait to see how the first batch of vaccinations went and, at the same time, monitor the Swine Flu to see if it became more deadly.
