Poland remembers World War start
Source: BBC News

A day of commemorations is taking place in Poland to mark the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.

2. WWII started on Dec. 12 1941 when Hitler inexplicably declared war
on the U.S. Before that it was known as the European war. If Hitler hadn't declared war on the U.S., we would have been content to keep providing materiel to the UK and got on with taking care of business in the Pacific.
