With the reform on healthcare capturing all the current headlines, it would be easy for many to dismiss the efforts of the current administration in the battle for the future of education...

...As Obama stated in a recent speech, this “unwarranted subsidy” would free up close to 100 million over a decade long period. At the center of the bill is the plan to transfer about $40 billion in savings to the Pell Grant program...

...$10 billion of the transferred money would go to community colleges. As more students use these secondary institutions for academic success, this would serve as the largest sum of federal compensation ever to these institutions. Another $8 billion would be applied to the programs of early childhood education.
