Obama Embraces Reaganomics

If the reports are right, Obama’s State of the Union will be middle finger to the middle class. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/25/obama-spending-freeze-the_n_436244.html

In less than 10 years Obama has gone from liberal community organizer to right wing ideologue. Why doesn’t he just come out and say this "The era of effective government is over, the military industrial complex will rule"

I am not sure how freezing the domestic programs that support the middle class, helps them in anyway.

By all means Mr. President keep increasing the military budget and tell the middle class to put more aside in an IRA.

Obviously the middle class should be putting more of the money they don’t have into an IRA. IRAs were the brainchild of big business. They wanted workers to feel vested in the stock market. If workers felt they had a stake in the stock market they would never vote against a policy that would be detrimental to the big corporations. It has worked perfectly so far. Businesses no longer fund pensions and they get more of the workers money from the IRA investments. A perfect scam that Obama is perpetuating.

If the President really wanted to help the middle class he would push the following policies that would help to increase wages for the middle class:

1. Repeal NAFTA and CAFTA
2. Push for tariffs to protect our domestic manufacturers
3. Push for Single Payer
4. Go back to the Nixon tax brackets
5. Make college free for US citizens

3. The sky is falling
How about this one......in 1 year, everyone has forgotten about the ghouls and criminals that brought government to its knees for the last decade. Now someone is trying to do something about it and all we can do is scream at them and call them traitors and even worse than the ghouls and criminals before him. This is getting stupid. Keep your eye on the ball!!

16. The guy who's trying to fix the problem has it ass-backwards.
Half of the stimulus money was used to bribe the ruling class, to let him try to do something for the working class. He's still got the neo-liberals in place who helped screw everything up in the first place. Do you expect them to accept blame? Fuck no. They'll cover their asses and loot some more.

You have a Treasury Secretary, who had a regulator position at the New York Fed, who never considered himself a regulator. A complete incompetent piece of shit (Summers) as his chief economic adviser.

Obama, in his own words is a free market believer. So much for scrapping outsourcing and tariffs to protect our economy. Military spending, the biggest drain on already short resources is still the biggest hog at the table.

I could go on for a day, but Dick Gephardt had the right term. "A Miserable Failure." We didn't expect him to fix everything right away. But, we did expect him to lead us in the right direction.

8. No it isn't
Our problem was caused by the lack of real government in the last 8 years. Instead of promoting local and national industry, the last bastards did nothing but export our military and gave money and tax breaks to friends and cronies. Now we have a President who is taking the strides to fix this mess and all we do here is bitch and moan about it and when someone like me comes on and tells people the real score, they turn the argument to themselves (e.g. "Well you don't know how shitty MY life has been." Of course I don't.....I don't know you). One of the things that I can do to help you is to support a President who is really working instead of going to Texas to clear fake brush off his fucking fake ranch. This will turn around if you have the faith and the balls to stick with the right stuff. Don't give in to the whiny side, it's what the media and the republicans want you to do so they can get back in power again and drag this country down some more.

Canadian memo recounts Obama adviser's meeting
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20080302/nafta_memo_080303/20080303/

The Canadian memo supports what CTV News reported exclusively last week: that Obama adviser Austan Goolsbee assured Canadian officials that the senator's tough talk on the North American Free Trade deal should not be taken seriously by the Harper government.

More on that Canadian Television Story About Obama and NAFTA
February 29, 2008 7:56 AM

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/more-on-that-ca.html

The latest from Canadian Television (LINK ) on that story that a senior member of Sen. Barack Obama's campaign team had reached out to the Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. to tell him not to take seriously Obama's fiery anti-NAFTA rhetoric includes questions about a conversation on this subject between Obama senior economic adviser Austan Goolsbee and the Canadian Consulate General in Chicago.

"I don't think it's appropriate to go to Ohio and tell people one thing while your aide is calling the Canadian ambassador and telling him something else," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told us yesterday as we flew from Houston to Dallas. "I certainly don't think that's straight talk."

ABC News' Jennifer Parker spoke to Goolsbee, a University of Chicago economics professor, Thursday who would not confirm or deny that he had a conversation with Georges Rioux, the Canadian Consulate General in Chicago.

This Fed Chief Brought to You by Enron

Just wanted to throw two tidbits into the debate on Ben Bernanke’s reconfirmation. First, this quote, which needs no explanation.

In the event that Bernanke isn’t confirmed, several sources say, Federal Reserve Board Vice Chairman Donald Kohn likely would be elevated to acting chair of the U.S. central bank. Bernanke would be entitled to stay on the board until his term as a Fed governor expires in 2020, but the sources said Bernanke could instead return to a professorship at Princeton University.

Possible successors to Bernanke include three people currently advising Obama on the economy, former Fed chief Paul Volcker, Larry Summers and Christina Romer.

Kohn was traveling in Europe at the end of the week on Fed business, but strategy on the Bernanke confirmation was being led by former Enron lobbyist Linda Robertson, who is viewed as an effective advocate for the banking chief on Capitol Hill.

12. simply outrageous
Unlike some of you I do believe that there is a point were this sort of thing might have to happen, but to do this before leaving Iraq and Afghanistan is the most outrageous thing imaginable.
