Judging By Her Own Theology Sarah Palin Is Disobeying the Bible
by Frank Schaeffer

Co-authored by Linda Trump

Sarah Palin will never again run for political office if, that is, she really believes the born-again fundamentalist views about women that her church promotes.

Premise: Sarah Palin is a self-proclaimed, far-right conservative, Christian fundamentalist, which connotes a literal interpretation of the Bible.

Problem: She cherry-picks to make her message more palatable to the public and ducks the subservient role of women her church believes in.

Too bad the media who interview Sarah Palin don't know their Bibles and the fundamentalist theology Palin says she lives by. If they did, Palin would have to answer the following questions based on the fact that according to her own church's beliefs, she shouldn't even be in politics.

So here is a freebie for you biblically-ignorant media types.

...of plucking the low hanging fruit. It's just too easy, more often than not. And even when they're not hypocritical, they're just plain delusional.

4. But it is still a worthwhile endevor to point out that they are liars
Which is what 'doctrinal hypocrisy' really is. Lying, bearing false witness, etc. If one has a 'faith' and does not practice it, it is more than good to point that out, no matter how common these lies might be.
The Obamas, for example, claim verses from 'saint' Paul as reason for opposing equal human rights. They do not however follow Paul's rules for women, clothing, or other things. They lie about practicing that faith. Simple as can be. They lie. Palin lies. It is pretense, and in politics, it is a weapon used against others that needs to be called what it is.
If Paul says 'gays are bad' and 'women should be silent in public' and you pick one of those because you and YOUR wife are above that stuff, well, shouting about marriage 'Sacraments' is vicious lying for the service of their agenda. It is wrong, no matter how common place.

5. It's the kind of thing that really makes me wish they taught logic.
At least taught the kind of logic that 6th graders can easily follow. To 6th graders.

Or maybe if it were mandatory in high school. You know, just the logic that's accessible to 6th graders without much effort.

Certainly college graduates should be taught it as a matter of course. At least the kind and amount that 6th graders could easily follow.

But, obviously enough, they don't.

Sad, really.

I guess I could always try convince myself that Schaeffer and Trump didn't make it to 6th grade. They probably did. Too bad.

9. I made it to 6th grade and I don't see the alleged illogic
In fact, as an undergrad I took a course in Logic and aced it. (Of course, formal symbolic logic has only limited application in politics, because you usually can't present a rigorous proof for any politically important proposition, but it's at least something.)

So, instead of just smearing Schaeffer and Trump, would you elaborate on what you find illogical about this very illuminating article?

11. Huh?
Schaeffer and Trump make perfect sense. Palin is a Dominionist. That means she believes women should always be subservient to men, no matter what.

Being a Governor and running for President is hardly being subservient to men, now, is it?

What kind of 'logic' do you want Schaeffer and Trump to follow?

6. Conservatives have a way of excepting themselves from their rules.
My grandmother, while not a religious zealot like Palin, was a diehard conservative Republican and a big believer in male chauvinism--she made no bones about her belief that women ought not hold public office. This, however, didn't keep her from running for, and being elected to, a number of public offices including county commissioner.

7. If liberals REALLY wanted to stop Palin, they'd attack her "strength" -- her fake Christianism
Only Schaeffer gets it.

Cue the Snark Mob. You'll get what's coming to you, dumbfucks.

10. I doubt that Sarah Palin has ever read the Bible. She may have heard selected parts of it from
fundy preachers - but actually read it for herself, I doubt it.
