For several weeks, the Washington Post has distorted the facts and launched a relentless attack on Montgomery County teachers. They have twisted information regarding the Education Association, used half truths in reference to teacher salaries (23% raises are NOT "typical"), and have attempted to tarnish the reputation of respected past MCEA leader by ignoring factual information about campaign law and practice.
Today, I called to cancel my subscription. The call taker asked if I would reconsider, and give the editors a chance to rectify the situation. "Absolutely NOT, I am done with the Post." She then asked if I would like to take the Post on Fridays and Sundays only, just for the coupons. "Sorry, NO." Next she offered me a LOWER RATE to continue getting the paper. Had to refuse. She did take down my complaint and said she would be sure it gets to the editors. Not that it will make any difference, but at least I am not paying for a paper that has so little regard for educators. No wonder the Post is considered irrelevant. Who needs it?

1. I just said NO to the DNC |

They called me for a donation and I told them no, that I had lost a lot of support for the Democrats. She simply said, "Well stay tuned!" and hung up. If she had asked me for specific issues I would have said, "Well, if they pass and sign a public option for health insurance I'll donate before November." But I never got the chance to say that.

I helped open up an Obama office in a tourist town in Republican West Michigan. The response was tremendous. We worked our buns off with phone calls, staging events, and wearing out shoe leather as we carried Michigan for the Democrats. Motivated by his populist message, I donated a ton of money I couldn't afford to Obama... I believed that strongly. I figured his beautiful oratory had to come from the heart. What he said made sense and I needed to hear all about the deplorable Bush administration since my rage had burned for 8 long years. Now, I am, to say the least, disenchanted with all the bought-and-paid-for whores in Congress and the WH. I cannot look at Rahm Emanuel without thinking "reptilian."
I must get 3 calls per week asking for donations from the DNC, the DCCC, the DLC, acronyms ad nauseam. I tell them one thing: "Restore habeas corpus and I will donate." Dead silence on the other end of the line.

4. Same thing I did with the St. Pete Crimes. |

They libeled a friend of mine who was running for Congress, with a bullshit, Republican, made up story.
Two years later, I decided to subscribe again, and it wasn't a week later, that they repeated that same bullshit story, in the incumbent congresswoman's husbands obituary.
I canceled again faster than a goose on ex-lax.
