McConnell grew increasingly angry as Franken made fun of him before a crowded public gallery and Sen |

I would love to see this CNN clip that shows McConnell's response. "The Leader thought I was disrespectful while he was giving his speech on General Kagan," Franken said in a statement to The Hill. "He is entitled to give his speech with the presiding officer just listening respectfully. I went directly to his office after I was done presiding to apologize in person. He wasn’t there, so I’ve sent him a handwritten note.” http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/112947-mcconnell-scolds-franken-for-making-faces-from-presidents-chair-during-speech

1. Why do Democrats always apologize? Did Dick apologize for "Go fuck yourself" or has |
|
any puke ever apologized for their BS? The GOP should apologize for the death and destruction they have brought down on the world. Compared to that obscenity, Sen. Franken's actions were undetectable except by the over-sensitive rethugs. Hey Mitch - Go FUCK yourself!!!!!. And here's my apology to you... I am truly sorry if you were offended by my quoting the former vice-president.

We have class. The Republicans don't.
We need a lot more aggression, it's true, but it's going to take a better kind than Al Franken showed in his lapse of manners.
And Al was 100% correct to apologize. It sets a good example for the others.

7. Initially, I too asked why would he apologies, and then |
|
I started thinking that Franken, being the devilishly smart guy he is, wanted to extend all the courtesy the Republicans did to him. I have to agree, Franken is doing great, and look forward to more of it.

He went straight to the top and repeated and admitted that he made faces while McConnel talked. Shoot, nearly everyone does.
Franken has the wisdom to make a federal case out of it and he should keep apologizing to the republicans everyday, imo, saying:
"I am so sorry yall make me make funny faces every time yall start talking bullshit, because it is the least I can do. Heck, if the law allowed it I'd get in your face and make you STFU, but all I am allowed to do, in the decorum of the senate, is make faces and mock yall. Sorry."

3. She was the Solicitor "General" |
|
They always refer to them like that.
Same with Attorney Generals. Some of them like Ashcrap, really liked it when people called them "General".

So Surgeons General are also referred to as Generals? Seems odd, but at least it makes sense now.
Thanks, Tom!

10. Yep. He was right to apologize. The Repubs would love to paint him as |
|
a clown who doesn't know how to govern or when to be serious. Here's what the Dems should do:
Whenever this tpic comes up, they should say, "Yeah, there was an apology, and we've moved on. Now it's the Republicans' turn to apoogize for filibustering, blocking with a technicality, every major piece of the administration's legislation." Then the dem who said this should go on to explain BRIEFLY why the filibuster goes against the senate vote and the people's will, how the fiibuster is harming the country. Then, point out that this has never happened in all of history.
We really need to hammer away at this.

11. Sadly, the Senate, once a hallowed place known for decorum, has degenerated into |
|
a place of vile Republican obstructionism: Franken has more civility in one finger than McConnell and all of his ilk in concert will ever have in totality. :P
