AP: Obama is losing it all for Dems

Or so the AP would have you believe. Do they have a copy editor over there?

So I start my Sunday like most, perusing various sites reading the news, when I come across this article over @ Huffington post written by the AP.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/17/democratic-enthusiasm-gap-poll_n_765631.html

Now I am just enraged. It's bad enough that the media has created this narrative, and some of the numbers are far worse than what we'd want to see, but as you read it, notice the key theme, the main headline. Now take a second to process the key findings WRITTEN IN THEIR OWN ARTICLE:

"_76 percent of Obama voters say they will support the Democrat in their House district, while 8 percent plan to back the Republican and the rest are undecided.

_71 percent of McCain voters say they will vote for the Republican in their House district, while 9 percent plan to get behind Democrats and 20 percent haven't chosen a candidate."

How invested in a narrative do you have to be to not even notice this. So let me get this straight, in their findings, they've found that MORE OBAMA SUPPORTERS are supporting DEMS than MCCAIN SUPPORTERS are supporting REPUBLICANS. More McCain supporters are defecting than Obama supporters (although statistically insignificant). And more McCain supporters are undecided on party then Obama supporters. It's like a comedy show without a punchline. Black is now red and red is now yellow I guess. But this is why we ned to keep working, because this is what the media plan has been about the past year, from publicizing small groups of cranks yelling "keep the governments hands of my Medicare" to ignoring everything this administration has accomplished (although as we all know, Obama and his team have a LONG WAY to go).

So just remember, this election is not just about Democrats running against Republicans, we're also running against one of the most well funded, secretly bankrolled opponents in history, which will make it that much harder to be heard. We're dealing with groups that will just put the facts out there in plain sight while screaming the exact opposite and just hope we're too distracted, too worried to notice. Pathetic.

Update #1: Wow, Rec list, thanks to all, never expected that with a short diary such as this, but coming back from the store to see that was awesome, as my voice can often be jumbled by a certain lack of writing style on occasion. Also, this piece is now the top news story on Yahoo with a very similar headline, as mentioned in comments. It's amazing the way this stuff spreads like wildfire without any regard for what is actually stated. Special thanks to indybend for pointing out my original title might be off putting due to the unclarity of what I might be stating.

2. The spin of words
That is all the republicans have
They have no concrete ideas on how to save this country

Vote on November 2 as if your life depended on it.

4. Do you believe President Obama had the audacity to show up at one event...
... with black skin? How dare he?

Don't believe the press. Get out and work for our candidates.

The ONLY thing that matters at this point is getting voters to the polls on November 2nd.

You can help do that.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, compile lists of local events, do data entry, etc.

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba
