An Apocalypse (Greek: ἀποκάλυψις apokálypsis; "lifting of the veil" or "revelation") is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted. (wikipedia)
Demonstrations and peaceful revolutions are sweeping the world. The wealthy/elite, ruling class have kept us in the dark and robbed the citizens of the world for way too long. I hope that soon, these demonstrations spread to America, so that ultimately "the veil will be lifted" and the citizens of the world can see how we have been manipulated and deceived. IMO, if Reagan had not started this raping of the worker and began the process of allowing the wealthy to further repress us and deny us our civil rights, the scenario sweeping the world may have been postponed indefinitely. While I despise "Reagonomics" and the subsequent rulers (in America) that have expanded his policies (D&R), we may owe all of them a "thank you." I do not ascribe to the Christian definition of Apocalypse (the end of the world), but I do think that we will soon witness the "lifting of the veil." I believe (and hope) this will result in an entirely new paradigm. One that does not measure a persons worth by their capital assets. The Mayan calendar calls for this "Apocalypse" in December of 2012. Hopefully, this date will usher in a new period in our existence and not as the Christians claim: an end to our existence. Perhaps an end to the existence of repression in the names of money, religion, politics, beliefs, etc.. All one can do is hope. I do believe that the PTB know what is happening and are attempting to insulate themselves from whatever it is, by whatever means necessary.

1. Are there any comments? |
|
I am not an "end days" type of person. I have heard the dates so many times in my life and not believed any of them. While I do not know about much about the end of the Mayan calendar, I do know that it coincides with a (600,000+ year ?) planetary alignment that may have catastrophic consequences. I hope this is not correct. Any thoughts?

and agree things are about to shift, maybe it is some kind of 'critical mass' kind of thing...where enough people have an idea that it becomes common reality and knowledge...
(you may get more attention/input posting this in the Astrology, spirituality and alternative healing group...;))

3. The Mayan calendar isn't apocalyptic |
|
-- scholars are bristling at attempts to link the ancient Maya with trends in contemporary spirituality. Maya civilization, known for advanced writing, mathematics and astronomy, flourished for centuries in Mesoamerica, especially between A.D. 300 and 900. Its Long Count calendar, which was discontinued under Spanish colonization, tracks more than 5,000 years, then resets at year zero.
"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in."http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/2007-03-27-maya-2012_n.htm

4. I presume(?) you did not read the definition of Apocalypse, |
|
that I chose. There have been many people in the sciences who say the end of the cycle that is the Mayan calendar, is indicative of the Mayan belief that this date does mark the Apocalypse. I chose the term Apocalypse as a rebirth.

5. Wow, that's a different definition of apocalypse |
|
I like that one. And yeah, if that's what the Mayans meant, let's give it to them. It's time to stop the uber elite all over the world.

6. Since I found root word and true definition of Apocalypse |
|
I've longed for that Apocalypse now....
You're right that it has nothing to do with the end of the world but if you think about it it sure would feel that way to some, at least for a while, at least the end of the world as they know it
uncovered, unmasked, revealed, disclosed, discovered in true character
OK, let's face it, you don't have to be evil for that to be an uncomfortable transition. I recall at a large gathering of friends saying something about 'can you imagine if suddenly air itself were like truth serum and there could be no more lies? My young friends, good people, imagined it and were horrified, talking about all the ways that would be a terrible thing. Not what I had been pondering!
I could not convince any of them that it would just be awkward for a while
But for those people and agencies and institutions so dependent on secrets and deception for their existence or way of life... politics, religion, banking and so much more would be utterly changed
and have a chance to become what they were meant to be in their best essence.

7. The movie 2012, a looming global disaster, a plan to save the human species |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-13-11 01:38 PM by txlibdem
But we learn as the story unfolds that only the rich and powerful are allowed onto the "life rafts." Only the wealthy survived the cataclysm --with the exception of a small band of lucky and perhaps "plucky" commoners.
Let's all make sure we switch that outcome around for the "real" 2012, shall we? The wealthy or the rich should be the last ones allowed onto the boats.
