Trying to put the taxes situation in a way anyone could understand.

See if this sounds understandable.

A man is invited to lunch with four well to do men he knows. He kind of knows them, but not that well. But he goes. They go to a fancy restaurant, one he wouldn't go to because he can't really afford it. Now, considering he isn't made of money, the man orders a BLT and a pop to drink. His total should not be more than $20 with the tip. His companions order wine, appetizers, Lobster.... really expensive stuff. They sit and talk about their trip this weekend on their private jet to their vacation home in the Bajamas. The man feels uncomfortable, but understands that his rich friends can afford these things so that is ok. He himself has been saving up to take a vacation. Maybe not to the Bajamas, but he hasn't been on a vacation in years.

Now the bill comes. The total is $500. Now the man's companions begin discussing how they would divide the bill. The other four think they should split the bill evenly so it would be fair. The man doesn't really think this is fair since he has only used at most $20. But he doesn't want to seem ungrateful. There goes his savings for his vacation. He thinks of his old beat up truck that he is hoping can make it another year. As he passes over $100 and the others pull out their corporate cards, the man can't believe it. They just had the company pay for their lunch and are going to write it off as a business expense!!

This is kind of how our tax system works. The rich guys are obviously corporations and rich folks and we are the man. Does that make sense?

1. If the swindlers are corporations, you would pay the entire bill

They wouldn't even pull out their credit cards, feeling that you should buy them the meal because they might not come to the table next time if you don't.

3. i thought of that. they would stick you with the bill. but then i thought that

the corporate credit card would work because they can just write it off. so you ended up paying for it anyway because that was less taxes they had to pay.

The three well-to-do gents will write it off a business expense and keep the man's cash for "pocket money." In the end, nothing really came out of their pockets. In fact, they made money, which they will see nothing wrong with.
