Obama up's ante in Budget Battle - oh yeah? Why don't you really get tough & listen to Sen Sanders

If you want to stop the GOPers from shutting down the Government (it's a heads they win tails you lose proposition now, they either cut the budget so the economic recovery is compromised, or the shut down the Government and hit the economy even harder: tails they win, heads we lose.

Why don't you really show your a leader Mr. President and tell the Red State Brigade to make a choice, vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders surtax on millionaires, or go ahead and shut down the Government in their last ditch effort to kill the recovery to the depression they created.

Make a statement that the Repubs are bent upon carrying out the same tactics of destruction used by Pol Pots Red Brigade in Cambodia - where they burned crops in the field to create havoc and increase their chances of bringing down the government they opposed. The Corporate Lobbyist party is using this same tactic of destruction now. They are demanding either massive cuts to necessary government programs (especially now in the wake of the economic destruction wrought by their Trickle Down - Deregulation Disaster) or they will shut down the Government entirely. In other words: "Give us your children or we'll burn down your house(with you in it, of course)! ".

Now, for those DUers who are willing to do more than just complain about the Republican Mother-Fuckers how about calling andor emailing your http://www.congress.org/congressorg/officials/congress/?lvl=C&azip=Your%20ZIP%20code%20here">Senators (http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact">and the WH) and tell them to pass Bernie Sanders surtax on millionaires which will avert the RED STATE BRIGADE's Government shut down - and also will be a step in the right direction in terms of addressing one of the causes of the Republican TRICKLE-DOWN DEREGULATION DISASTER.

Think about it, how much trouble would it be to email andor call your Senators and email the WH? Think it's worth the trouble??

1. The Sanders bill would still have to pass the house and that
is hardly likely to happen. It sounds good on paper but republicans will kill it.

4. Yeah, so let's stop before we get started. I can just see someone like you off Omaha beach in '44..
"Oh, gee the Germans are just gonna be shooting at us. We probably won't be able to do this anyway and I'll just get a bunch of sand in my shorts - I hate it when that happens. Let's just go home and send the Nazis Valentines day cards. Maybe they will turn into humanitarians, Huh?"

24. I don't know about the Valentine Cards, but it should be made
clear if this isn't accomplished by the deadline that the goal posts will be moving and dramatically. Putting this bill forward with full WH support and a campaign to explain it's benefits to the American people could be a real start.
I am sure there are a few things the WH can do to screw with the Republicans and they need to be done. There needs to be a figurative "shot across the bow" to get their attention.

2. This has to get through Congress. We now have MORE Republicans with Teabaggers
to boot and a Senate that is not filibuster proof.

Still, it's Obama's fault, right?

Really, this is getting really tiresome.

3. It's the fault of anybody who lays down and gives up before giving it a real fight.
If the bill came up for a vote at least we could see the Repugs voting against a compromise approach. There is another option -- increase revenues (especially when they just extorted from Obama an extension of tax cuts for the top two income brackets).

14. i see someone beat me to the answer to your comment. I will just say that politics is not
just a matter of calculating what "can be done" before you try something. You don't really know what is or is not possible until you try. In any case sometimes you must do those some things that are the right thing to do.

From your comments I can surmise that this will mean nothing to you. You only want to move when you are assured of winning. You shouldn't be involved in politics. Maybe selling insurance would be more your thing.

16. It means EVERYTHING TO ME when Americans put more Republicans in the House.
You haven't answered the question, only resorting to attacks on me.

How does this proposal get through the House of Representatives when there are 87 Teabaggers and MORE Republicans there?

Don't attack me! Answer the question!

15. you may be comfortable being effete, but you are trying to convince others to join you in
your lassitude. Better it would be for you to loll quietly off in a corner somewhere and let others who still have the energy, commit themselves to worthy pursuits.

18. I'm NOT more comfortable with Republicans in the House.
Rather than ad hominem attacks on me and assuming what you know about me, you still have not addressed the issue at hand.

Bottom line: there are MORE Republicans and Teabaggers in the House today. Tell me how we get the progressive legislation through the House when there are a bunch of thugs and wingnuts there.

Will you work to get more progressives elected at the state, local and Congressional levels; or, are you simply going to sit on a message board issuing attacks on fellow progressives?

26. Wait. Who's giving up here? I'm trying to get progressives elected.
What are YOU doing other than sitting on a message board blaming the president? You have no answer to the question so you attack me. Really, it's sad.

You know absolutely nothing about me or who I am, and what I do.

All you do is attack. How Teabagger-ish of you.

I'm not the issue. I'm working hard to get progressives elected at the local levels. What are you doing besides attacking me and others here?

6. what's getting tiresome is the *let's blame everyone else about the problems* echo chamber
Used to cover the FACT that those supposedly in charge (remember that famous quote *I've Got This*?) doing virtually nothing but the occasional poutrage via press conference.

It's tiresome watching the same old excuses getting dredged up while we get into more wars and give more tax breaks to the Goldman Sachs Boys club in the DC area....

22. I think you're talking to a broken record here.
You're 100% correct. Starting a battle that can't be won during a threat of Gov. shutdown will do nothing but make Dems look desperate and childish. We don't need "OH YEAH?!! Well...FU!!"

We need adults to get this fixed...soon. I think a decent addition to the discussion with Boner would be, "Since we won't be paying our military, we'll have to bring them all home immediately so they can find second jobs to support their families while you work out a compromise that won't put our recovery back into the sewer. I realize this may jeapordize the safety of our nation, but families have to eat and I'm not forcing any soldier to fight while his kids are at home starving."
