Mitch Albom: 'Office' is now the code word for our low morale
from the Detroit Free Press:

In a recent episode of TV's "The Office," the boss, played by Steve Carell, asks one of his staff to marry him. The proposal is gleefully orchestrated by the office workers. They hold candles and play along on the romance. They even cheer as the bride-to-be says yes.

And then Carell announces, at this happiest moment, that he is moving to Colorado to help his beloved with her ailing father.

And the office is stunned.

There is very little resembling a real office in that story -- and not just because the actors are funnier than us. These days, offices have become places of resentment, not camaraderie, of dissatisfaction, grumbling, muted anger. ...........(more)

1. What I like most is yet another column, yet another voice, pointing out the disparity
in earnings - between what the CEO got as a bonus and what YOU did as a working stuff (you were probably lucky still to have a job).

THIS is what we need. The drumbeat. Lots of voices, different, from all over the place, that are starting to sing the same tune. We need a SHITLOAD of this. We need it to be a rising tidal wave, indeed, a tsunami, of complaints about the disparity. That's what will start motivating serious change. We need to build a cacaphony of roaring voices, unavoidable, unignorable, that are saying THIS.

Every additional one is a plus!

2. Believe or not, I just watched that episode online about 20 minutes ago.
I guess I didn't realize that there was some deep meaning to it. I'm thinking of playing Office episodes backwards to see if they have clues about Paul is Dead.

3. The casino is open for business

"The appetite for risk is back in the very same mortgage bets that triggered the financial crisis in the first place."
