Reid & Boehner reach agreement, waiting on House GOP
In a press conference that just concluded, Senate majority leader Harry Reid indicated that the two sides had reached a tentative agreement. The agreement would include 78 billion in cuts, but would drop the title ten debate over Planned Parenthood.

Speaker Boehner now has to sell this to his Tea Party driven base in the House and return with a yes or no.

Reid indicated that if it were an no, then a series of options for another short term CR would be needed and worked out as fast as possible.

Sounds like a shutdown may be averted, for today at least....

For the purposes of regular conversation, the new/final offer from Dems is $38 billion, as compared to the Republican demand for $61 billion, but for the purposes of the larger budget discussion among policymakers, Dems are offering $78 billion in cuts as compared to the GOP demand for $100 billion.

budge on planned parenthood. Good for them.

5. No Articles Yet
I watched the presser on Politico, so I just took the info straight from there and posted it here. i probably have this in the wrong area, as there is no article yet, but once there is a supporting article, I will post it.

The $78b is essentially the full prorated $100b that the Tea Party wanted, just in a little different format. Some was discretionary, and some was actually mandatory and defense, which varied a bit from the original concepts.

We'll see what the House GOP says now.....
