Scandal in Fitzwalkerstan: Federal probe, full recount required in high court race

.....

Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus, a former Republican legislative staffer who worked for Prosser when he served as Assembly speaker and with Gov. Scott Walker when he was a GOP rising star, has found all the votes that justice needs to secure his re-election and that the governor needs to claim a “win” for his agenda.

....

The clerk, who has a history of secretive and erratic handling of election results, says she forgot to count the votes of Brookfield, the county’s second-largest city, in the total for Tuesday’s Supreme Court election.

Nickolaus claims that it was “human error” that caused her to “lose” the Brookfield results on her personal computer where she had secreted away the data. Yet, she apparently knew of the “mistake” for 29 hours before reporting it and then handed the information off to conservative bloggers and talk-radio personalities.

But what is most important to note are the numbers. With Walker’s candidate, Justice David Prosser, essentially tied with his independence-and-integrity challenger, Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg, it was all but certain that a recount would be required. And the final unofficial count, as tabulated Wednesday afternoon, put Kloppenburg ahead by several hundred votes, giving the challenger an advantage going into the count.

Then, two days after the election, Nickolaus found the 7,582 votes needed to put Prosser outside the zone of a state-funded official recount. ..............

2. If this isn't election fraud, I don't know what is.
She suddenly found votes on her own laptop?

7. now, now. she forgot to manually save the files.
and apparently her Access inexplicably lacks the standard "autosave" feature that everybody else's Access has.

See. It was all just a little boo-boo. Feel better now?

3. Someone needs to file
FOIA requests for her email and phone calls. If they can go after a professor surely a mere County Clerk is not exempt.

4. What's the point?
If those 7582 votes are let in, then the teabagger wins. What good will it do to count them again?

5. Errors, challenges to legitimate ballots, double-checking the Diebold tabulators
Write-ins, badly marked ballots, canceled ballots, etc.

There are lots of places things can go wrong accidentally or intentionally. If nothing else, Nickolaus proved that all by herself.

Glynn Wilson, a former Christian Science Monitor correspondent who now publishes and writes for his news site locustfork.net, posted a piece in June stating that Dan Gans — Riley's chief of staff during the would-be governor's time as a U.S. Representative for Alabama's 3rd District — electronically changed the results, giving a razor-thin edge to Riley, who went on to win the state by 3,120 votes.
An unidentified source, according to his report "How the 2002 Election Was Stolen in Bay Minette," reported that Gans was at the county courthouse, and that he was "interested" in the final vote results.

9. Interesting address. Yes, it is easy to alter election results if there is no paper AND
if the paper is just recounted by a machine anyway!!
