Palin’s road show fizzles in Wisconsin

Sarah Palin revived her road show Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin, spouting the tea party line to a few hundred supporters who gathered in blowing snow and freezing temperatures to hear the polarizing political figure deliver her standard talking points.

“Hey folks, he’s trying to save your jobs and your pensions,” Palin screamed. “Your govenror did the right thing and you won! Your beautiful state won! And people still have their jobs!”

But Palin’s words drifted over a gathering far smaller than the tens of thousands who have rallied a the capital to protest Wisconsin Scott Walker’s efforts to bust public employee unions. Saturday’s turnout to hear Palin was estimated to be about 6,500 — including pro-union supporters who chanted “recall Walker” and “Scott Walker has got to go.”

And Walker — thus far — has won nothing. His law is stalled in the courts and public opinion polls have shifted as his approval rating plummets.

Saturday’s turnout was anything but an endorsement of the bombastic Palin or the increasingly unpopular Walker. The pro-Palin supporters were quickly surrounded by anti-Walker forces and arguments broke out.

Right-wing blogger Andrew Breibart rushed to the microphone at one point and screamed “go to hell” at the protestors.

But the planned Palin road show was not the love-in they expected for either Palin or Walker and the tension that has racked the Wisconsin State Capitol will continue.

1. At the risk of sounding base, I think Palin has 'shot her wad'
And I can't say it's been nice knowing her.

2. I think she never really had a wad
to shoot. But, tell that to the media. If it were not for Palin, Trump, Newtie, etc. the media would have nothing to report--at least would have nothing much to say. That is one reason I have not watched the "news" in a long time. I am sick of it. They need to start referring to her as the Half-wit Half-governor of AK. Being a loser has paid off for her--I will give her that.

3. Very appropriate for her, I think. She's a half-term has-been, a Quitter.
She has nothing relevant to contribute to the dialogue. I wish she'd just go home and stay in the house built with taxpayer dollars.

8. It has an earlier meaning from the era of musket-type muzzle-loaded guns
and, yes, it's an apt comparison in those terms as well. The 'shooter' (grifter Palin) got caught up in the heat of battle and didn't put anything substantial down the barrel of her musket. With no projectile in place, only a cotton 'wad' emerged - a wasted shot. May all such RW endeavors be so fruitless!

Oh, yeah...Breitfart...YOU go to hell!

4. "GO TO HELL"?
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 07:51 AM by fredamae
Really? WI musta done something Very Right yesterday.
We "let" them have the Whole stage in '09/'10. "They" thought we are easy.
They are beginning to see that when the ruling majority puts their collective "foot down" and says "NO"-----We, Unlike our elected reps Mean it! And the Best they can do is tell us to "Go To Hell"? Seriously? Is that going to be their "intellectual dialog of debate" we are going to get? That's no fun.

We used their own "show up/shout-down" tactics and they don't like it. Way to go WI!!!! LOL

I think everybody should be packing signs that read: "TELL THE TRUTH!" and "STOP THE LIES". Every time one of "them" tells a lie, everybody raises the sign and Loudly Objects to the lies, omission of fact and mis-information.

6. I think he followed it up with "My mom says you're all just jealous,"
but he had a lump in his throat and it came out funny, and no one was really listening by that point.

My reaction:

Good.

5. This is what has been missing: Palin supporters outnumbered
at every single one of her stops. Drown out the shrieking banshee and make her time on stage miserable.

Good job Wisconsin!

10. I would bet this was a PAID GIG for Palin.

No way would Palin speak for nothing. I wonder if she actually got a call from one of the Koch's or if Walker contacted her directly.

Either way, Palin does nothing for free!

Palin is vulgar and obscene just like the rest of the baggers! Biggest dumbarse on the planet! I cringe every time I see another story about this loser!

12. ... does anyone have any "off mic" reactions from her?
I'd love for everyone to hear what she really thinks of Wisconsin and the Tea-stooges who stood in the frigid weather to drink that fake Tea ... I'm sure it isn't too flattering.

14. She's a Remora, a Lamprey, an Opportunistic Infection
a leech, a parasite, a peculiarity that other nations wouldn't tolerate, let alone cultivate.

"How do you solve a problem like Ms. Palin?

How do you catch a creep and pin her down?

How do you find a word that means Ms. Palin?

A flibbertigibbet, a will-o-the-wisp, a clown?

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her.

Many a thing she ought to understand.

But how do you make her stay, and listen to all you say?

How do you leave a mark upon the sand?

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Ms. Palin?

How do get the Moonbeam off the stand?"

Apologies to Rogers and Hammerstein.

She's had her 15 minutes--yet we are seeing more of her than we did of Star Trek in syndication...

17. While I get some shadenfreude from this
I am tired of the take down of the insane Republicans and not the build up of progressive politics. It's time to move on from the divisive Palin years.

Peace,
Tex Shelters
