An FYI:

Exiting the Crisis – New Publication

17/04/2011 By Andrew Watt 2 Comments

The ETUI has just published a book entitled:

Exiting from the crisis: towards a more equitable and sustainable model of growth

Download and further details are here. (Download is free, but do consider ordering a shiny printed copy, either for a significant other or your institution’s library.)

The book is a collective work of around 30 economists and political scientists, all with links to the global labour movement. It is edited by David Coats. The focus is less on an analysis of the crisis than on setting out progressive ways out of the crisis towards an economic model that delivers balanced, sustained and sustainable growth. It boasts a preface by Nobel Laureate Joe Stiglitz.

It was launched last Friday at an event in Washington hosted by the AFL-CIO. Further events are planned in the coming months, as is a French and (hopefully) Russian translation.

Together with the other initiators (TUAC, ITUC, GURN), I hope that the book will help to fertilise the ongoing debate on the Good Society post-crisis. I would be very interested to receive (awatt {at} etui(.)org) any comments and suggestions regarding the publication and possible dissemination activities.
