USA USA Wave your flags and get out the war drums again!
Not difficult to see where the Bin Laden crap is leading. Poor Pakistan is next and you won`t leave Afghanistan or Iraq. Things will escalate in all the Muslim countries. (They are such demons.) And I must add that many Canadians Australians, Europeans etc find your relishing of the murder of Bin Laden revolting. What blood lust.

Well you are in luck. Canada has a Harper government and he will back your blood lust to the hilt. No doubt he, being a rabid Christian fundamentalist, also relishes the death of a human being. He will want to bring back the death penalty now that he has a majority.

I will add I believe Bin Laden died in December 2001 and that you are being used again and will fall for it hook line and sinker. You always do if it leads to more war!

1. You need a refresher on who and what OBL was before you call it blood lust.
You owe us an apology.

2. Why did you elect Harper?
There are many Americans, Australians, and Europeans who are quite revolted about it.

7. I do not think this will lead to a new war. But we will keep the blackmail
money going there because we need to keep them out of the hands of Iran. They really do have nukes.

9. Wow
you really are true believers.

I voted NDP and feel sick about Harper, a Bush clone.

Going to bomb the rat-shit out of another beautiful country (Iran) because you have no guilt about the war crime of Iraq. I wish Iran had nukes. Since when does your country pick on a country that has nukes. you always invade a poor country that you think will be a push-over.

Let me know when you win a war even with all your firepower. Here`s hoping you go broke for all your killing.

Yeah, we all know you won WWII all by your lil ole selves. You never stop reminding us of that. Never mind that smaller countries got in there long before you and made greater sacrifices.

The only deaths you ever mourn are American deaths. Nobody else counts. Revolting! I ache for the beautiful people you slaughtered in Iraq. I am ashamed Canada is helping you protect your pipeline and your poppies in Afghanistan.

American! Shoot first, think about it tomorrow. If ever.

12. I totally agree
I'll be crying no tears for Osama Bin Laden, since he is responsible for so many deaths; in Bali, in NY, in Africa, in Spain, in London.

But these displays in my country are sickening...the USA chants, the chest-thumping and the flag waving. Celebrating like we won the superbowl.

13. I see no signs that a US bombing of Iran is imminent. Do you?
In fact, I think it's very unlikely.

Odd for you to say that you 'wish Iran had nukes.' Personally, I'd rather not see that rather distasteful regime gain more power and influence. But that's just me, I guess.

18. Although I agree with much of what you say, please dont dump ALL
of us into that barrel of blood lust. There are many many Americans who wish we were not such a warfaring people and country. We feel very helpless to change it. We thought we had in 2008...or at least begun the change. Alas, we were wrong.

15. The cynicism is understandable and deserved
Irislake is expressing what many people feel, minus the OBL dying in Dec 2001 (and I'm sure there are those who concur with that theory).

The institutional military complex that Eisenhower warned about became a reality after 9/11. Years ago, before I was blogging regularly, I contributed to a forum similar to this a theory that the real target of the 9/11 attacks was not our people, but our economy. Bin Laden himself, in interviews held after the 9/11 attacks, was obsessed not with the death toll, but the economic impact of the attacks.

Later, I wrote an article about an interview with Omar Bin Laden that was printed in Rolling Stone ( http://nothingright.com/archives/235 ). In the RS article, Omar mentioned how Pres. Bush was a perfect target for the attack, because he would go all in for revenge, regardless of the impact on the country.

Rachel Maddow, on her MSNBC show last night, did a fantastic job of illustrating the real impact of the War on Terror. Median income is down, cost of routine goods and services is up, government spending on war has skyrocketed, creating an environment where conservatives want to eliminate programs that benefit the nation to save money they spend on chasing terrorists around the globe.

War is never a solution to a problem. It is a problem added to the back of a problem, generally creating more problems along the way.

I love my country, which is why the actions of my country hurt so much.

I will mourn the loss of Bin Laden no more than I did the loss of Saddam Hussein, but I will not be dancing in the streets in celebration of yet another life lost, becoming that which so angered us after 9/11, when we saw footage of people celebrating in the streets in the Middle East.

In the end, it is all about perspective.

19. America thrives on wars
that much is true.

Many of us have opposed them, but we are not in control.
