POLL: Are Are Republicans purposely hindering the economy in order to make President Obama weaker 2012? Vote: http://www.wepolls.com/r/919059It seems like this is their entire 2012 game plan. The ruined the economy with eight years of Bush policies, and now they want to "blame the black guy" by fighting him tooth and nail on everything he's trying to do to improve the economy.

Is it in their interests to see America go into the dumpster? I guess so, if it means they get their guy elected.
Isn't that awfully anti-American?

8. It's obvious. Repubs have fought against every idea, like ending the |
|
outrageous tax cuts for the wealthy, that would help the economy. High speed rail and health care have suffered because Repubs want to bring death to government and us so they can rebuild their own fascist idealogical paradise.

and they STILL are doing everything they can to sabotage the economy in order to bring him down.

their policies will finish off the economy and this country. THEN who will they blame?

16. absolutely not. first, they know obama's going to win. |
|
they'll never admit it publicly, of course, but they know the way it works. obama has played his cards well for re-election. not so well for the left, not so well for the poor, but certainly well for himself.
he's a charismatic incumbent who got major legislation passed, scored a military victory, avoided scandal and major social unrest, and will very likely avoid a primary challenge and a credit third party candidate. the economy is not good even though it's nominally improving, but that's not enough for the uncharismatic bumbleheads running against him.
HOWEVER, the entire house and a third of the senate faces the voters, and THAT is something they can have an impact on. so if you do think they'd tank the economy for political gain, think congress, not white house.
that said, i don't think they're tanking the economy for political gain. they're simply stalling obama's agenda for political gain, damn the consequences, economic or otherwise. but note that they're doing this while tax rates and other conditions are where the ultra-rich like them. that is, they're fighting to preserve a status quo that further enriches the already ultra-rich. they just don't care about the economy as a whole.
for them the scope of the economy is limited to the financial well-being of their ultra-rich donors.

Big Business in this country is sitting on $2 TRILLION in assets. Every person in the country could be hired with full benefits. But it won't budge until there is another Reeper president. Once all the regulations are scrapped and unions are destroyed, they will be hiring again.

why should when they control only one house of congress be any different. Republicans like workers being desperate for any work at any wages and any conditions.

23. Of Course They Are. They Know the Mighty Slime Machine Will Shift the Blame to Obama |
|
Obama was elected on hope and change. All the Repiglickins have had to do is say "NO" to everything, until the hope dies, then they win. It's that simple, as we found out in 2010. Our only hope is that people catch on to this in 2012, but with the Mighty Slime Machine in full effect working for the Repigs, and with the "Citizens United" ruling to give them billions of dollars in secret contributions, it may still work again.

25. I wish that were the sole and ultimate motivation |
|
behind what is going on.
However, believing that political positioning and the coming election are the primary incentives behind the current economic shifts and breakdown are probably preferred to our dismantlers than a considering a far more insidious, far-reaching and destructive game plan.
What strikes me is that the rise of corporatism, (aka: Fascism) becomes far more obvious each day and seems to trump the particulars and minutia that comprise the body of the movement to transition to total, privatized ownership and control of the commons with government finally left as a facade-like shell that exists to shape perception and manufacture consent.
Political distractions and inferences are becoming a final refuge in an attempt to ignore the harsh reality that transcends the reality-show political positioning that, like media itself is filtered. Republicans are not known to make sacrifices, but they are known to take no prisoners when possible. It is hard to imagine, even for a political gain, that the beholden representatives, (aka: minions) of corporate takeover would do anything that would hurt profits just to influence an election.
They already have, effectively, everything. Obama is clearly valuable to the Republicans because, rather than being a real threat to their intentions, he facilitates the process, often through capitulation, while providing a convenient, public relations face for hope that things will change or improve, even as the debacle of our collapse continues, unabated.
Meanwhile, it is better that people focus on 2012 if it will steal the focus on what is actually going on right now.
